Yesterday, I watched Iga practice for about 30-40 minutes.
She and the team spent 15-20 minutes working on handling slices from all parts on the court, especially the low, skiddy slice to the forehand.
She’s already seen several of those from Muchova. 🎾
Indian Wells just released the draw for the mixed doubles invitational, and we here at Court Theory HQ would like you to know that Venus Williams is playing with Christian Harrison. 🎾
Wild stuff as Tommy Paul and Joao Fonseca practice side-by-side ahead of their night match tonight. 🎾
Answer: Wherever you want them to be, Queenus.
At the resort, Venus Williams just asked me where the clay courts are. 🫠
Confirmed: Daniil Medvedev and his forehand have arrived in Indian Wells.
Out here catching one of the best new rivalries in tennis on the practice court together. 🎾
And, today, play was halted. Players, officials, and staff were scrambling for cover after an emergency alert was broadcast on the grounds. A nearby oil fire started from drone debris. 😑🎾
Oh, let me check in and see how everyone is doing with the Indian Wells draw reveal… 🎾
Yeah, it seems only one didn’t make it because he was in the final of Pune yesterday. Strange stuff.
It’s wild to think about how players, coaches, and staff have been on lockdown in Dubai…and then, just a 90 minute drive straight across the UAE, the main draw of a Challenger began today in Fujairah. 🤯🎾
That was a wild first set.
But this is the thing that stands out to me: Are we really just going to ignore that cat in distress like it’s not howling? 🎾
Man, Kecmanovic loses a lot of matches like this.
I think it’s a bit unfair and probably should have been done differently. A WTA rep should have been advocating for her.
At the same time, she finished at 8:30 local time and didn’t have to start until 1:00. That’s not a terrible amount of recovery time in a best of three scenario.
I’m assuming it’s because the other three matches have Americans and they wanted the largest possible crowds for them.
Really unfortunate scheduling for Ajla Tomljanovic.
She was last on last night, and it was by far the longest match of the day.
Then, she got scheduled first for today, which was pretty damn unfair. 🎾
Quite a wild card list for Indian Wells! 🎾
Tallon Griekspoor pulls off the big win over Andrey Rublev.
He now faces Daniil Medvedev.
He’s got a 1-0 record against Medvedev. Their sole meeting was a year ago in the quarterfinals of this very tournament in Dubai.
It was an absolute banger of a match 2-6, 7-6, 7-5. 🎾
Just pulled a muscle from patting myself on the back for calling this Rublev-Griekspoor battle as the don’t-miss match today. 🎾

Emma Navarro sure is taking the scenic route on the struggle bus. 😬🎾
Emma Navarro was up 4-1 in the first set. Then she lost the next five games in a row to drop the set.
Lots on the line here as defending champ. 🎾
Yeah, I think it might be. There are three British women whose voices I conflate.
Why can’t this announcer get Sonmez’s name right? It’s not Zen Yep.
Put the letters in order, please.
