News: The three Democratic members of the Privacy and Civil Liberties Oversight Board—a government panel that reviews national-security surveillance programs for privacy implications—were fired today after refusing to resign as instructed last week by the White House. The Democrats were locked out of their email systems earlier today and notified by the board's general counsel that they had been dismissed. There is now only one Republican remaining on the board, meaning it is sub-quorum and cannot start or complete most of its functions.
