At least, if you liked the production of the movie, I doubt that you'd be disappointed by the quality of the 2nd Season!

Believe it or not, but Black Clover's staff at Pierrot is full of passionate people, and I'm sure that they can do wonders with a better schedule.

Pierrot would keep producing shows "traditionally" while only PIERROT FILMS would get "Bleach TYBW levels of quality" but this isn't their goal.

This is why you can expect Black Clover 2nd Season to be seasonal, and that the lows of its first season shouldn't happen again.

It's a pretty low-calorie work, but very nicely produced with a great story too, you should watch it!

And it's produced under Pierrot's name, this time.

The fact that Honma's decision and the PIERROT FILMS rebranding were close in time made people think that

But is this exclusive to PIERROT FILMS? Not at all. In his interview, Honma mentions that this change is for Pierrot as a whole.

You may not have watched it, but with this SAME approach, Honma also mentions the latest project by Tetsufumi Hotta's production line, YATAGARASU.

Since his appointment as the new representative director, Honma has consistently improved Pierrot's revenues and reputation. But this is probably his most significant decision.

Bleach TYBW was the first "test" of this method, and, in his own words, it worked.

But if this rebranding worked so well, it's also because it coincided with the CEO Michiyuki Honma's decision to change Pierrot's approach:

Honma was impressed by how Kimetsu no Yaiba was produced and performed for all ages. He thought Pierrot needed to change its methods.

So, why isn't Black Clover 2nd Season being produced at PIERROT FILMS?

Simply because Tominaga's production line is busy with Osomatsu-san and Bleach TYBW coming next.

And because Isogai and Komatsu's production line is free since the BC movie. It's as shrimple as that!

So, PIERROT FILMS is just a rebranding of what we called "Yoshihiro Tominaga's production line". They say as much in the announcement tweet.

As of now, an anime being adapted by PIERROT FILMS just means that it's Pierrot, but with Yoshihiro Tominaga as the animation producer.

You may be wondering what this has to do with PIERROT FILMS:

In fact, even before PIERROT FILMS was established, Tominaga's production line was already in a second physical studio of Pierrot while Isogai/Komatsu or Machiyama (Black Clover & Boruto) were in the primary studio.

And our main interests here:

- Yoshihiro Tominaga: Akatsuki no Yona -> Osomatsu-san -> Akudama Drive -> Bleach TYBW -> Osomatsu-san 4
- Maiko Isogai & Naomi Komatsu: Kingdom S1 & S2 -> Twin Star Exorcists -> Black Clover -> Black Clover Movie -> Black Clover 2nd Season

Japanese animation studios usually have several production lines working on their project, each with one or two animation producers at the helm.

As for Pierrot:
- Kouichi Machiyama: Boruto -> Play It Cool, Guys
- Tetsufumi Hotta: Tokyo Ghoul -> HERO MASK -> YATAGARASU
...

Many people are confused about what PIERROT FILMS really is, why the second season of Black Clover isn't with PIERROT FILMS, and Pierrot's CEO Michiyuki Honma's declarations about the "new style" of the studio.

This made my respect for his work grow even more when I realized all the individual adjustments that went into each cut, even if many of the gradients/color corrections probably came from carefully crafted presets beforehand
