Okay so now what? The one day no-buy is over.

The system loves symbolic victories. You celebrate & they keep collecting profits.

If you want to scare them, become anti-consumerist. Buy nothing but what you need. Stack cash & invest that in systemic shifts.

There are two people in Congress-the chairs of the Senate & House Appropriations Committees-who have enormous power over the illegal impoundment of funds appropriated by Congress, which is sowing chaos across the US. They need to be relentlessly contacted at their offices, in person and by phone. 1/

Citizen Lab released a report that highlights three serious security issues in the RedNote app, including that the app retrieves uploaded user content in a way that allows anyone else on your network, at your ISP, or organizations like the NSA, to see everything you look at and upload to RedNote.

FOOD SCARCITY IS IMMINENT as long as the Administration controls us. During World War II, USDA designed the Victory Garden campaign addressing food & labor shortages in the U.S. This remains valid.

Fun fact: USGS does not, in fact, just study geology. Mission areas include core science (geospatial, mapping), ecosystems (biology, ecology), energy and minerals, natural hazards (earth quakes, volcanology), and water resources. We strictly do science and are completely non-regulatory.

We Should All Be Paying Attention To What's Happening to the National Archives Guest post from Dominic Byrd-McDevitt: Open knowledge advocate | Dedicated to building community and serving the public interest via data & tech.

The quality of the reporting on this has been disappointing, to say the least, with only the most basic understanding of what the National Archives does.

This is bigger than a little spat with a small agency.

When Platforms and the Government Unite, Remember What’s Private and What Isn’t For years now, there has been some concern about the coziness between technology companies and the government. Whether a company complies with casual government requests for data, requires a warrant, ...

As more tech CEOs seem willing to put their companies’ culture and technology at the behest of the US government, it’s good to remember which platforms have access to what data.

The NYT "The Daily" podcast incorrectly reported that CDC's Epidemic Intelligence Service Officers, or "Disease Detectives", were terminated. Not true. They are at-risk of termination. There's still time to advocate that they and other brilliant, dedicated Title 42 and 5 probationary staff are kept

Today and yesterday I delivered donated pizza to the warming center. I looked people in the eye and smiled. I said “thank you” and “I appreciate you”. I checked out a DVD at the library of the television show ALF.

Why aren’t we looking into corporate welfare? In the United States, it costs taxpayers billions each year, with estimates ranging from $92 billion to $100 billion annually. Meanwhile, USAID costs only $40 billion. Hmmm… doesn’t add up.
