If Plato had a Substack, it would be overlooked. The old system of gatekeeping was replaced with one that rewards engagement over truth. We need to protect the ideas an algorithm can’t measure.

"Apart from the very practical problem that there currently is no Left party that could take on that role [...], I find the lack of serious engagement with the “how” of political leadership deeply concerning—especially for a Left that is already burdened by a history of totalitarianism. "

04.03.2026 12:30 — 👍 5 🔁 1 💬 0 📌 0An interlude chapter entitled "Anger". It reads: "Anger. I constantly feel like screaming. I'm at the airport. Two men, in their fifties, are having a coffee together. Judging by their behaviour and the volume of their voices, they must be co-workers. I perceive them as being somewhat macho. Wedding rings. Do they rape their wives as they sleep? What about him, the little old man over there? And that young guy? How are you supposed to know? How can you be safe? Where? More than eighty men. Hundreds must have seen the posts on the website. No one said a word. I read excerpts from the forums on the coco.fr site: 'Hi, I'm looking for a distributor to show off my slut on demand.' Can this kind of thing happen to anyone? Is every man regarded by his wife as a 'nice guy liable to rape her and brag about it online? I watch them going by, men, on the street, in the subway. How about him: do you think he thinks dead girls are hot? And him? Nowhere is safe. You get paranoid. No, it's not paranoia, you know the figures, it's worse than that."
I just finished @manongarcia.bsky.social's Living with Men. I highly recommend, though it's disturbing and challenging stuff. What it captures, and refuses to dispel, is a sense of being genuinely adrift if you refuse to flinch from what you on some level know must be true of many men around you.

It was great fun.
Netanyahu told Fox News host Sean Hannity that the assault on Iran “is not an endless war.”
He famously said the same thing in 2002 about the Iraq War.
His prediction that removing Saddam Hussein would bring “positive reverberations” after the 2003 Iraq invasion did not come to fruition.

Today’s military strikes on Iran — carried out by the United States and Israel — mark a catastrophic escalation in an illegal war of aggression. Bombing cities. Killing civilians. Opening a new theater of war.

War is not a morality play.
The relevant question isn’t: Are the targets bad people who have done bad things?
The relevant question is: Will going to war make things better, achieving something that’s worth the death and suffering it causes?
