Chuck Jones, man.
Hangman or MJF?
Yeah a couple years older! The 2000s were a bit tough because Emo is very much not my thing, but there was still some good stuff! This is my playlist for that decade BTW ๐

Iโve been doing a long running music challenge on here and thatโs our next decade.
Thatโs not Bettie Page!
Hey that was on my list too! Such a great song.๐
Might have finished Sonic Disruptors!
He's so lame!
To me the problem is not so much the ramifications of the stip, but that he offered it up unprompted in order to get MJF into his signature match. If he loses that, even due to interference, it does tremendous harm to his character. They did a bad job getting to the endpoint. ๐คผ

13. Heavy- Gloria (2018)
Gloria is a female fronted throwback psychedelic rock band from France; they are absolutely tremendous and this song is one of their best. I hope some day they tour the US!

Lol not a good day to search for that name, is it? ๐
My kid sent this to me and my reply was โwell, it isโ
Just took this one earlier today! So sleepy!
Uhhhh well that was pretty much the whole start of his career ๐คทโโ๏ธ
Well, you would! ๐ Do you think they did when they started? I have always gotten the sense that Jan and Dean were more in that โweโre publishing what we loveโ mindset than First, which seemed much more strategic from the start.
Yes I think First was the, well, first to have an actual, honest to goodness business plan. ๐
Yes, you really should! Itโs such a fascinating moment in comics history, and most of the principles are still alive, plus thereโs plenty of material in the fanzines of the time (I really have thought a lot about it LOL). ๐
Yes, and Fantagraphics and Dark Horse seem to me to be the models for that. When they started they were relatively similar, but Fanta moved fully into the comics lit side, while Dark Horse more or less abandoned their black and white roots for more mainstream comics.
This is *also* the book I have thought about doing (donโt worry I never will). Telling the story of the rise of independents in the 80 largely through the prism of First, Eclipse, and Comico; wrapping up at their collapses and the rise of Image. I hope you do write it some day, I want to read it!
Yes it was well worth reading in full.
There must be another Okada that I am not familiar with, right?
Spritualized vs BMRC is funny because they toured together that year. ๐And also mean! ๐
This is very good, but if you don't mind a quick correction: MJF has actually defended the title three times on AEW TV, with the other being vs Bandido on 1/14.
I was also mildly annoyed at the finishes on Dynamite, and I just wish that they'd stay away from cheap ones. A match as good as Speedball vs Protostar really does deserve a clean winner.
I think there's definitely story possibilities to do with Hangman losing. I also kinda think that might happen, but I am also not sure it's worth the risk. But I do think the stipulation has added to my interest, so in that regard it's been a success, even if I don't like how they got there.
It seems so sticky though!
I am a not an X-Men fan at all, but it's definitely disappointing that the two times they did something really interesting with them and moved the concept forward they immediately retreated back to the status quo.
It's in her contract!
It did Dove. ๐
