There’s quite a bit of nuance to battleship performance in WW2 and they certainly aren’t useless even today, but yeah, they’re expensive capital ships and their guns are outranged by aircraft and guided missiles by hundreds of miles.

A new battleship program would crash and burn as no one has made 12 inch class A armor plate in 80 years or 16 inch projectiles. The most we’d get is a half-assed refit of the Iowas with still no functional battleship.

Chief Irons was my one highlight of that whole movie. I loved his “I’m so done with this” attitude his whole time on screen. If I wanted to see another RE movie set in Raccoon City, I’d want to see that asshole struggle and ultimate fail to contain the infection.
