I had water polo practice in Tukwila until 10, and on the drive home on I-5 to Wallingford I was getting blown all over the place. Going past Boeing Field the clouds were moving west to east at an alarmingly fast rate.

Whoever is the next Secretary of State is going to have some big shoes to fill.

I’ve had this same conversation with Germans about traveling in the US. One acquaintance told me he wanted to travel to NYC, pop down to Miami, and then maybe drive to Las Vegas over a 9 day trip.

“No, you don’t.”

Map snapshot depicting the predicted relative anomalousness of 500mb GPH from the ECMWF ensemble over the Western U.S. in about a week from now. A large anomalous ridge, featuring a huge region of bright orange and red colors (depicting extremely high positive GPH anomalies) is centered right in the middle of the map.

Current indications are that late spring or even mid-summer-like (in some places) heat will arrive and persist for a fairly extended duration across a wide swath of the American West, centered on the Four Corners to Southern CA region. This will induce rapid melt of remaining snowpack.

Map snapshot depicting the predicted relative anomalousness of surface temperatures from the ECMWF ensemble over the Western U.S. in about a week from now. A a huge region of bright orange and red colors (depicting extremely high warm temperature anomalies) is centered right in the middle of the map, and covers essentially the entire region.

Lots of buzz online about an upcoming major March heatwave for the American SW & California. And in this case, it does indeed appear increasingly likely than an extremely anomalous and even record-breaking heatwave may envelop much of the SW about a week from now.

The Secretary of War is too cowardly to admit that we started a war.

Now more than ever I’m convinced losing Anthony Bourdain meant we lost probably the biggest person on tv who advocated for the wonders of meeting new people and calling anyone online who hated learning new cultures the children they were, ruthlessly to the camera.

Having once been a college freshman, NEVER listen to a college freshman who thinks they know things after having taken one intro course

So you don't heave a missile into an elementary school, then fire a second missile into the school to finish off the survivors is why a professional military engages in dumb, politically correct rules of engagement. But no, American exceptionalism > 175 schoolgirls.

Every social media joke about politics is a tragedy. We could have instead been speculating whether Lightning McQueen’s biology is entirely metal or if he has a fleshy interior like a clam inhabiting a shell

Correction. Orwell never said this. He did however, warn that: "political language... is designed to make lies sound truthful and murder respectable, and to give an appearance of solidity to pure wind.” (That's Politics and the English Language, one of my favorite essays)

A legend at both Celtic and Liverpool, Kenny Dalglish certainly will never walk alone amongst fans of both clubs. Today is his birthday so a good day to peruse the many goals he scored at both clubs in his career! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🥳⚽

I once asked what 2003 would’ve been like if we had social media then, but I must say I’m underwhelmed now I know.

I fully intend on spending the entirety of tonight’s political circus sweating my ass off in my sauna. A little bit of löyly sounds like the perfect avoidance mechanism.

When a hockey team pisses away all the goodwill they generated in 48 hours flat, we call it Milkshake Puck.

i am so fascinated by major league soccer’s strategy of not promoting anything and not wanting anyone to watch anything. it’s certainly novel.

I’m a MLS season ticket holder with a home match tomorrow night, and even I didn’t know the season is kicking off right now.
