Ofgem has confirmed the January price cap at Β£1,758 for a typical dual fuel household. This represents a marginal shift, with bills rising by just Β£3 or 0.2%.

However, our forecast shows the cap climbing to Β£1,815 in April, driven by higher network charges.

Energy bills are set to dip in January, but the bigger story is what comes next.

Our final price cap forecast for Jan-March 2026 shows the cap falling slightly to Β£1,733 for a typical household. A welcome Β£22 drop - but there are pressures building elsewhere.

Our forecasts for Jan 26 say bills will fall to Β£1,725 p/a for a typical dual fuel household, Β£30 lower than October's cap. This includes the expected Nuclear Regulated Asset Base levy.

In April 26 the cap is forecast to climb by over Β£100, driven by non-wholesale costs.
