"I am neither gentle nor ethereal, child of the sun," she proclaims to him, in a voice barely above a whisper, but carrying the force of a lion's roar. "I dance as the whirlwind, fierce, and untamed. You may gaze into my eyes, and find not the Nhaama of your dreams. But what if I peer into yours, and see a raging flame to be fanned? Gather your strength, brother of the Steppe, for I shall return home again soon."

Yep, flying used to be something special.
IIRC there was even a quest you had to do in Heavensward to teach your chocobo companion to fly (once you got to the MSQ where you rode the black chocobo to West Coerthas).

At the same time, though, maybe they realized having a job quest NPC show up as a main story character later was a mistake. I unlocked DRG /after/ finishing Heavensward and, let me tell you, that DRG storyline does /not/ hold up when you do it out of order. Widargelt for non-MNKs would be similar.

It's fashionable to dunk on Stormblood, but just go into it with an open mind and let it tell its story. We are all allowed to enjoy things, and there's a lot to like about it.

The neo-Ishgardian sets seem to indicate (without having any story beats do so explicitly) that Stephanivien is making a big splash in Coerthan fashion.

With Garlean, Sharlayan, and Alexandrian tech leaking out across the world, there has to be some culture shock somewhere.

My only indulgence in the pl█g█n space has been (1) better/more-detailed control over poses and (2) OMFG please allow the character to have bare feet. I mean, I don't even have a foot thing. It's just weird that the character can never be barefoot. No one sleeps in sandals, guys.

I actually empathize with anyone who is suffering from... shall we say... supplemental software withdrawal this week. I've always just played #FFXIV basically vanilla. But l get it. Y'all should see my #Fallout4 installation. I make up for it over there, for sure. 😅
