Sheriffs across the country make it a point to publish booking photos of every person they arrest and they run them in the local paper.

The Trump regime has been constrained by its budget being managed by Congress. The more cash it can take in with these bribes, and with other illegal activities like oil piracy, the less it needs to concern itself with our increasingly ornamental legislature.

Maybe you could report plainly that this is corruption and it is illegal.

Exclusive | Trump Administration Set to Receive $10 Billion Fee for Brokering TikTok Deal Investors in the social-media platform’s U.S. business agreed to give the government several multibillion-dollar payments, sources said.

this is just open and abject corruption, but the way U.S. journalism frames it you'd not really understand that there's anything untoward

I'm curious, where is this money even going? They've fired all the independent auditors. Do we know this is going to the treasury? Where does it go from there if it does?

Why do we even allow someone to just give the treasury money?

These people sought power because, above all, they wanted to kill. And now they can, at scale.

Technik: Koloriertes Aquarell.

Academically, it's interesting to watch an actual dictatorship forming. Like seeing clouds start to swirl into a tornado. Predictable, destructive. Shame we all have to live with the consequences.

Respectfully, eat shit. Those kids were expelled, arrested, and targeted relentlessly by their school administrations with the specific goal of preventing further protest. Eighteen year old kids were held down and maced by campus security, hit point blank with tear gas canisters by riot cops.

An image showing a tanker dropped off on one side of a landmass at the start of a trolley problem leading to two pickup points, circumventing the closed strait of hormuz

Could this be a solution?

Did some rough measurements on building a canal around the strait of Hormuz. It'd be about 350 miles long and 120 meters high.

The Panama Canal, which took 33 years to build, is 50 miles long and 26 meters high.

So, we'd be building something 7 times as long and 5 times as high, by... 2060-ish?

If we could just raise sea levels by 150 meters we get a backup Strait of Hormuz

Ig Nobels ceremony moves to Europe over security concerns Marc Abraham: “During the past year, it has become unsafe for our guests to visit the country."

The IgNobel Prizes, usually bestowed at a ceremony in Cambridge, Mass, are moving to Europe this year due to security concerns for honorees and journalists coming to the US from abroad.

I bet I know who's going to win the IgNobel Peace Prize this year.

The tech is already there, the transition is already underway, this will just accelerate it and we’ll emerge with a new set of global powers that will not include the United States.
