For Trainz 2022, good sites to go to when starting out would be The Sudrian Industries and Sodor Workshops. These will have many of the engines and rolling stock you'll likely use the most often. For T:ANE, The Branchline Crew, Surly's Garage, and Crovan's Gate Works have good models and routes.

I use a combination of Trainz's built-in post processing feature and a ReShade preset based off of Ktrek1701's in the TSI discord. The version of Trainz I mainly use is Trainz 2022, but I would only recommend if you have a higher-end PC. Trainz: A New Era works better if you have a lower-end PC.
