Only ever watched the first season of Riverdale, thought it was interesting but should've clocked the writing at this moment...
...and for the next 6 seasons, still have no idea where the series was headed.

Happy belated 83rd birthday to recent Hollywood Walk of Fame star recipient, Bill Duke!
Learnt he directed "urban noir", Deep Cover in 1992; where Lawrence "Larry" Fishburne goes undercover working for LA's biggest drug dealer, played by Jeff Goldblum.
Leon's appearance in Requiem and the question of how the female survivors of Raccoon City would appear 28 years later (lol) reminded me of-

IF that Kane & Lynch movie ever comes through with Bloom considering coming back to live action again...
At the age of 55, I just think-
The man has a career in the industries spanning 42 years, 26 of them in live action feature films & television alone before focusing on voice acting and writing
Here he is in Once Upon a Time in America (1984) and The A-Team (2010)

Shoutout to voice/live-action actor plus writer, Brian Bloom
Been in almost every game I played over the past 20 years:

Sure, your game may be woke but did it have you liberate enslaved miners in Apartheid South Africa?
Or rescue Aboriginal villagers from genocide as they're being used as test subjects for a viral weapon by arms dealers?
Wild narrative choice from Syphon Filter 3 on the latter
Everyone on (HBO)/Max watching the Knight of the Seven Kingdoms finale last night
Then there's me watching a banker do ecstasy, take coke into two orifices, receive a handy, taste his own "product"
All at the workplace Xmas party where his President, superiors and clients were
Danielle Panabaker getting chased by Jason Voorhees and infected townsfolk a year apart in horror remakes.
Her poor characters 😭
Jeremy Renner in 28 WEEKS LATER (2007)
Ralph Fiennes w/ Renner in THE HURT LOCKER (2008)
Fiennes in 28 YEARS LATER (2025)
Thinking about Mission: Impossible once again.
This time about Ethan Hunt's experience with water.
And his lifesavers.
Also love the fact I share a birthday with both Rian Johnson and Milla Jovavich.

20 years on with Johnson, we now have: Looper, a Star Wars movie, the Poker Face series and the Knives Out trilogy.
All of which probably contain Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Noah Segan in some form of cameo including The Last Jedi and last year's Wake Up Dead Man.

@empiremagazine.bsky.social introduced me to @rianjohnson.bsky.social and his 2005 directional debut, Brick.
Wanted a neo-noir, hard boiled detective story set in high school, gotten that and so much more: rapid fire dialogue with wit, a twisty story containing both suspense and dread.

I watched 2013's The Necessary Death of Charlie Countryman sometime before the pandemic.
Don't think I could watch it again knowing now it pairs an abuser with a separate abuse victim.

A mother passes away before telling her son he should visit Bucharest, Romania.
A father passes away on a plane before telling a man he just met to deliver a gift & message to his daughter there.
A trip filled with love, drugs and violence ensues

I hope Myha'la, Harry Lawtey, Marisa Abela and David Jonsson are doing well.

First season already puts the main characters through the meat grinder in-and-out of the work environment as they altogether sink lower into depravity.
Which makes me all the more dreaded/excited for the seasons after especially this year's forth.
Got to give it to the cast for acting it out as bankers fucking over others, fucking each other and getting fucked up.
Which makes it a hell of an introduction for me with David Jonsson instead of watching him in Alien: Romulus or The Long Walk.
Almost finished the first season, could understand why viewers are put off by it:
Financial graduates go behind each others backs, professionally & personally, as we watch them work in an investment bank.
Dealing with the stress & pressure via sexual depravity & drug abuse.
How it started & how it's going:
James Patterson's Alex Cross and Lee Child's Jack Reacher.
From the big screen to the small, for the better, apparently.
