It makes me laugh whenever the Comet Research Group’s paid bloviator says I’m an airburst & impact swarm denier. I & my colleagues were pioneering this field when he was a freshman political science major learning toward pseudoscience & envy of anyone who could get paid to do actual science.

I also learned that it's now taking a month to get documents through R&A at LANL. SNL is less than a week.

My worst experience was never being able to navigate foreign travel & having to duplicate all paperwork bc everything I had to document for the lab I had to document for the contractor but a different way. The funniest outcome was when they argued over one penny bc of different rounding convention.

The red tape and bureaucracy was worse at LANL in my opinion. Maybe it was just me, or maybe different times, or maybe because I was staff at Sandia and a contract employee at LANL. There was a lot more required bureaucratic hoop jumping at LANL and I had a much longer leash at SNL.

Interesting read. I worked at all 3. A summer at LLNL followed by 34 years at SNL & then 7 years at LANL. I’ve been badgeless since December but keeping collaborations active.

Interesting to think that Donald Trump may have, completely inadvertently and at a horrific cost, finally woken up the world to how urgent it is we get off our dangerous addiction to fossil fuels.

I am seriously, seriously wondering how many GOP politicians are doing a very careful calculus on their political future right now. They're facing a no-win scenario, and have to choose the path of least damage. If they don't, things will be far worse for them, and for all of us.
