Tracking the count in Tasmania
A big round of applause for counting, everyone
Counting done for the day. Tomorrow the first distribution in Bass is the last National candidate. In Franklin we'll see the first distribution from a Liberal. We should also find out who of David O'Byrne and Dean Winter will reach quota first. #politas

Info from scrutineers confirms that Peter George's preferences are behaving as expected, meaning that Labor will retain its 2nd seat in Franklin
So latest is:
Lib 14
ALP 10
Grn 5
Ind 4
2 seats remain in doubt: one in Lyons (SFF favoured) and one in Bass (more complex) #politas

... but there are more independents in the 'ungrouped' column and more independents in multi-candidate groups (like the Peter George group)
More than a quarter of all candidates are independents, a big jump on last year.

There are 161 candidates in Tasmania, slightly down on last year, but there's been a big drop in the number of ballot columns across the state, and a big jump in the number of independent candidates.
That'll make for simpler ballots for most voters...

if you were thinking about throwing your hat in the ring for Tasmanian Parliament, you have just *two hours* remaining to find 10 nominators and get your nomination form to the returning officer

I can find nothing about the Greens 7th Lyons candidate except there is a speed cubing competitor by the same name. If anyone can confirm that the person who came 13th in the state speed cubing championship this year (3x3x3 cube) is now running for parliament, I would be grateful

Necessary reminder that literally every digital media expert in the country have been saying exactly this since this whole sorry ordeal started. None of this is a surprise.

The ACT Ombudsman says it has concerns about a procurement by the ACT Integrity Commission, after it awarded a $150,000 contract to its then-CEO, while he was still CEO. "There were no records in the Commission’s conflicts of interest register"
