Neither gender nor sex nor any other "essential" identity are outside these constructions.

Social constructionism deconstructs the stabilising i itself.

Social constructionism destabilises essential identity entirely. Failing to grasp this really is the root of much of the "debate" on this issue.

I am not so much who i am as the performances and stories i weave myself from and in, all within the social narratives and performances around me

I am just not entirely convinced that lumping them under the label nationalist is meaningful. They are clearly ideologically diverse, and nation has a different meaning to them.

Hardly any surprise why.

Academic publishing is in such a mess. Its dependency on free labour is surely going to make this worse with so many uk universities now telling staff to do *nothing* for free... ?

What will it take to break and remake the industry?

I can't actually believe that we have allowed this to dominate debate in the manner it does. Migration is not our biggest social issue by quite a long way. Why can't people see we are being distracted.

Instead, we sanction such cruelty.

I have disagreed with her in the past, and she blocked me, but this is the most shocking thing I have seen her post. She is a headmistress! I expect more wisdom from someone in her position. I sincerely hope he doesn’t shape the future and in my opinion he was the β€˜worst of us’!

Peer reviewers are exhausted. It's common to spend *months* inviting reviewers, getting refusals, inviting more, maybe 12 or more, then 2 agree but 1 doesn't complete, so you go again. That's why your paper is in limbo. I'm very sorry, it's awful, but it's also an untenable academic labour issue.

Do you think an associate Dean for Research should be someone with a significant Research profile? Or is managing Research a different job from doing it?

But for reasons no serious academic in the world understands, Dr Clarke is not a full professor.

I really would love it if @uwebristolofficial.bsky.social‬ would explain why it is that the only woman on this list is not a professor.

It's not that whole 'not having a penis' thing, is it?

I am entirely bemused by this. Victoria Clarke is one of the most prominent methodologists in the world. This is evidenced by multiple metrics.

From this article, it seems that her university, @uwebristolofficial.bsky.social‬ are aware of this.

It's the Guns. America is the only rich democracy that features the routine mass slaughter of its citizens with guns. Why does this happen? The data show a really clear picture: It's the guns. Yes, it's that simple.

Early reports of a school shooting this morning at Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis (I was baptized at the church there). As always: it's the guns. The US is the only country in the world that politically tolerates and legally ensures the routine mass slaughter of its own citizens.
