The AOI has created a brilliant guide to help with this - the consultation is onerous but their tips make completing it quick and easy for any creator, not just an illustrator. Still time to fill in this consultation - with handy tips from ALCS as it's a bastard to fill in otherwise (I filled it in before any guides were online and hoooo boy).

My immediate thought would be to take a look at what has been released and what is being released over the next 6 months . If you look on Amazon and go to filters you can find newest arrivals - this helps .
Life cycles are always popular . I’m doing a series right now for Hachette
