As someone who's familiar with a good chunk of the plot, TotR was truly a gift. I'm so sad it eventually had to end AND us western fans didn't get much of it localized. Takumi Miyajima (Abyss / Symphonia scenario writer) was really out here playing dolls and it was amazing.

It's incredibly fantastic to hear angsty orcomplex songs you ID'd with really strongly in your early to mid 20s and find that in your 30s these problems no longer relate to you whatsoever.

The thing is, I'm too deranged about canon to be particularly invested in fanfic. If the source media is already giving me what I want, I'm happy to go BRRR in that mental space and rotate the canon text in my head.

You gotta hype up your OC concepts for yourself first and foremost. It can get a little deflating to be alone in the OC content mines, but others are mining their OC content alongside you and you can have solidarity in that. ✊😔

Before I played FF14, I thought Tsukuyomi was someone's semi-popular WOL (with mods, of course). She has that kind of look. I saw art of her, but not enough to make me realize she was a canon character. When she appeared in-game, I was like, "THIS IS A REAL CHARACTER????"
