WIP mockup of menu UI and HUD for #Razorlocks coming along nicely. It's going to be a good challenge to get it working in-engine with some nice animations. First two were created with #Figma and the last with #Photoshop.

Inventory & Map UI/HUD:
Moonlighter has a UI tailored to its systems; the inventory is a strong reference. I like the HUDโ€™s added visual info for moves and weapons.

Linkโ€™s Awakening favors simplicity: the map is fast and clear. It works, but Iโ€™d want more UI flavor for inventory.

Dialogue:

Moonlighter limits portraits to main characters and leaves NPCs unnamed. I prefer dialogue and emotion bubbles appearing in-world, but I will name my NPCs.

Linkโ€™s Awakening keeps dialogue simple and functional. It works, but doesnโ€™t stand out. Iโ€™d prefer portraits in either style.

For my #gamedevbingo study for my new 2.5D Unreal Game, I studied both Legend of Zelda: Links Awakening Remake, and Moonlighter. Two games I love!

See comments for my findings, as they apply to my games study targets!

Early Unreal prototype of a remake of my first original Game Boy game.

Iโ€™m using a test 3D environment right now to focus on feel, scale, lighting, and dialogue systems, but Marceline is still here, just like the original!

Perfect, I believe LDTK supports Gamemaker integration. Please keep us updated on what you find out!

What engine are you using? From my understanding, the LDTK metadata can be used to render the auto map with squares and char location like you show.

Theres a sample project called Gridvania that comes with LDTK. Maybe you could see if it canwork for your project?

LDtk LDtk (Level Designer Toolkit) is an open-source 2D level editor for indie devs, with a strong focus on user-friendliness.

Have you tried LDTK? I have some game dev friends that use it with success.

I used it on a Unity project once, and used the interface to make the map UI, with slight editing. ldtk.io

Rule 2:
You may complete a square multiple times, but it can only be checked off once per card. One card per month. Players may start a new card monthly or reset with a new card the next year. Completed squares may be posted as many times as desired.

Rule 3:
Players may play traditional bingo or blackout. Gameplay may be monthly, quarterly, or once annually, aligned with personal development pace.

A โ€œRewardsโ€ section appears below.

On the left is โ€œQuarterly Rewardsโ€:
Each completed bingo earns one raffle entry. Raffle drawings are held once every three months. Winners are selected at random from eligible entries. Participants must be members of the Pixel Tanuki Grove Discord and send completed cards to Pixel Tanuki on Discord. Blackout completions earn five raffle tickets.

On the right is โ€œPossible Prizes,โ€ shown as rounded labels:
Asset or software packs, game keys, Steam gift cards, exclusive Pixel Tanuki merchandise, and additional prizes.

Just finished up the Centrifuge, devlog will come shortly.

Doesn't look like much, but I did have to draw it 4 times. It's more complicated of an animation than it looks. Perhaps I'll add Uranium to the list of game items.
