Trump incited violence on 6 January 2021.

An outside producer made a bad edit when there was plenty of unedited material to show that.

Today Trump's granting pardons to dozens of people involved in that day's attempt to sabotage the handover of power.

The BBC flagelllates itself.

A picture of sir Robbie Gibb’s network of influence

This was a diagram illustrating a piece I wrote in @prospectmagazine.co.uk in January 2024. Some faces have since changed but you get the general gist …

Dominic Cummings, in an earlier incarnation, ran a secretly-funded 'think tank' dedicated to attacking the Beeb while Robbie Gibb glided effortlessly from GBNews to the BBC & started lecturing staff on impartiality. Imagine (cos you'll have to) how the 'left-wing' equivalent would be reported.

A Parrot on the Shoulder The past couple of weeks have seen me working with ITE trainees and Teaching Assistants (TAs). There are interesting parallels with both groups. One is starting a process that will lead to QTS, under....

In class, in the moment, advice, especially in the early stages of learning to teach, is an essential element in understanding classroom dynamics.

Want to know why the prisons system seems to be suddenly falling apart?

Well, it's not sudden. It's just suddenly being REPORTED. This rot was a deliberate policy choice, and I kept the receipts. Because I'm not the BBC.

(A note on what Tories did to cause this, from The Decade In Tory)

The Tory member and former election candidate that Boris Johnson appointed as DG of the BBC in order to make it more right-wing is now not right-wing enough to be DG of the BBC.

Couldn't really ask for a clearer example of the Overton window being pushed rightward, could you?

Glad that someone has finally taken responsibility for the appalling assault on democracy that was the Jan. 6 insurrection.

Slightly confused that it's the Director-General of the BBC, but what do I know?

An essential precondition for authoritarianism is the neutering of sources of real news.

In writing, there's the ellipsis to edit elements.

Oxford dictionary: the omission from speech or writing of a word or words that are superfluous or able to be understood from contextual clues.

Separating speech is challenging, but Trump was quoted directly...he doesn't like to be held to account.

See what’s happening. A Trumpist US media company has taken over Channel 5. Another US company is gunning for ITV. Our social media is saturated by Musk’s calls for civil war in the UK. The BBC is the last thing standing, and Trump/Johnson are trying to bring it down

UPDATE: Donald Trump is so hellbent on denying people SNAP that he went all the way to the Supreme Court to block benefits.

Now Trump is trying to bully states into TAKING BACK payments they already made to families.

It’s chaos for the sake of cruelty.

BBC leaders resign amid scandal over misleading edit of Trump speech | CNN The BBC’s Director General Tim Davie and CEO of News Deborah Turness resigned on Sunday, following criticism over impartiality and bias at the news corporation.

(1 of 3) Good thing the BBC didn't talk to any January 6 experts before going in this direction.

The United States Capitol grounds were closed on January 6.

It was a federal crime to trespass on them.

Trump told leaders of an illegal march intended to terminate illegally on federal grounds...

Hard to believe that millionaire politicians are fighting to deprive desperate people food!
Especially when one of them publicly claims to be a Christian!
Disgraceful behaviour!

The chances of an excommunication keep rising and, consequently, the chances of another anti-pope are also rising.

Because you /know/ Trump would claim he had "no choice" but to declare himself Pope.

I watched it on the day, and read Seth Abramson's commentary on the speech, and the word that came to mind while I watched a BBC reporter huddled in a restaurant under the Capitol was "insurrection".

Earlier this year, I met a Croatian journalist who was in the US doing a piece on America’s politics and I asked her what surprised her. And she said, β€œWhat you all call the far left is just being normal.”

Samir Zitouni who works for LNER was the first person to try and stop the attack in Huntingdon.

He is a hero spread his name far and wide, judge people on their actions not their names or immigration status.

Don't know if it's politics and education or the politics of education. Either way, the system dynamics stall while decisions are anticipated and vested interests bend ears. The politicians forget that they work through the system, rather than continually trying to bend it into a different shape.

@johncosgrove.bsky.social manages to press many buttons in this very detailed and evidenced blog. Like John, I'm not sure that @bphillipsonmp.bsky.social has a strong grasp of the realities of inclusion. "Culture change" needs a mindset change; it's a principle, not just a word.
