I thought we already had a system designed to allow police to determine who owns a car and if it's insured: license plates

When all the other time travelers are busy killing Hitler, I’m gonna take out Laura Ingalls Wilder.

Ah yes, the early 20th century when the National Grange saw a huge resurgence in membership because farmers were having such a fine time and not because of a need to organize.

I like how my guy here thinks they're dropping special bombs that only hit straight Iranians

My ICQ UIN is 7231680. That number is burned into my consciousness. I inadvertently learned that you could see private conversations in public chat rooms when using Telnet instead of a browser on GeoCities. I can tell you the difference in audible dial-up handshakes between 1200, 2400, 14.4 kbps modems. I needed a edu email address to join Facebook after my university was admitted. We were here at the beginning. We made social media. You wouldn't be in my Top 8. I have usernames older than you.

This is supposed to be prevented by both technology (IFF systems) and coordination with allies. IFF codes rotate daily (more coordination required). Perhaps Hegseth & Trump's purges of "woke & DEI" officers hurt our ability to successfully coordinate with other countries on a timely basis?

So the F-15 is the most successful combat aircraft in modern history. 104 air combat engagements with enemy aircraft. 104 victories. Zero losses. A perfect record.

Only 6 F-15s have been lost to ground based fire in all history. 3 of those 6 were friendly fire under this Operation Epstein Fury.🀑

I don't want or need a president that silences the conversations that protect people that aren't "culturally normal.🀑"

That's how fascists chip away at the base of good people.

I do want and need a president that will prioritize protecting the most vulnerable.

That's how you protect people.

Secret Six by Nicole Maines, Stephen Segovia, and Rain Beredo

There's Dreamer, drama, and bad decisions, which means it's already great. But the highlight for me is Black Alice, who @nicoleamaines.bsky.social captures in a way that, imo, no one else but her creator (Gail Simone) has.

Meta is putting a "Name Tag" feature in Ray-Bans - facial recognition through the glasses' camera. You look at someone, AI tells you who they are.
In an internal document, the company wrote that the timing is good because civil society groups are busy with politics and won't cause problems.

I do not fear the rise of superintelligence.

I do, however, fear the rise of billionaires, organizations, and world powers who seek to use computing to maximize their power, influence, and control.

Claude Opus 4.6 spends $20K trying to write a C compiler : AI agents build something that mostly works but worries the project's creator

A team of Claude Opus 4.6 agents wrote a C compiler. I wonder if the text of Ken Thompson's 1984 Turing Award Acceptance Lecture "Reflections on Trusting Trust" was in its training corpus.
