Some good academic news: My colleagues Olena Palko, Börries Kuzmany, and I have signed a contract to edit a Handbook of Ukrainian History for Oxford University Press - to my knowledge the first major academic handbook of Ukrainian history in any language. Looking forward to a challenging task!

With my thanks to @ankahajkova.bsky.social for reminding me: today, 6 January 2025, is the 82nd anniversary of the murder of Liddy Bacroff in the concentration camp at Mauthausen. Bacroff was an extraordinary transgender woman whose fate was the result of Nazi persecution. 1/

I am using this book for my Twentieth Century Europe class again this semester. And as I am prepping it and my assignments, its breadth and depth of primary sources documents showing how fascism grew in many different European countries is amazing. Thanks to all the chapter authors!
