also one of the reasons why the discussions of 'we just need to build more housing and everything else will fall into place, prices will come down' always grated: what are you going to do in the meantime about the landlords/will you hold a metaphorical gun to their head after housing is built
renters and apartments just do not exist in the major political discussions around housing except as an afterthought
