So it was fun to go back and have them ask me if I read Berserk, Orb/Chi, watched Frieren, One Piece and a lot more niche ones. And to show me their kids' drawings! Wehhh....

Seeing some other foreigners sort of struggle with finding their place among the locals, but it seemed to surprise people that I knew general popculture beyond anime and manga (music, shows etc). but they were also impressed with my extensive knowledge of it.

I felt good in the end to be cautious about how nerdy I am in the company of others in Japan, because like I'm not extensively there for anime and manga and really want more to experience than that. However, I also learned it worked as my benefit when connecting with other people base level.

No thoughts, just thinking about how a few weeks ago I was hanging out with my taiko friends in a small town in japan and we were talking about anime while drinking. cries... I miss them so much already.
