09.10.2025 11:26 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Why are we on this journey? There are two main reasons:
✨ To perform experiments for our Synthese Project, "Mobility Network and Lifestyle of Mesolithic Hunter-Gatherers in the Demer Basin"
We are deeply involved in the craft of producing natural fibers, utilising Wommersom quartzite tools to manage brambles, just like Mesolithic hunter-gatherers may have done 10,000 years ago! 🌿🪨

The results suggest that, based on such a combination, it is possible to identify the use of percussion (direct and indirect) and pressure, as well as to differentiate between the use of harder and softer contact tools.

The Lommel–Molse Nete is one of the most extensive and best-preserved Federmesser sites in north-western Europe. This unique Late Glacial site offers exceptional opportunities to explore how hunter-gatherer groups at the end of the Ice Age organised their lives and adapted to changing environments.
By also comparing Lommel–Molse Nete with nearby sites such as Lommel–Maatheide, we aim to place it within a broader landscape archaeology framework.
14.08.2025 12:58 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Our research will combine detailed techno-functional analysis of stone tools (including residue analysis), raw material provenance studies, and intrasite spatial analysis of activity areas and site organisation.
