Hi friends! Please donate to our GoFundMe, or send us donations via Venmo, Paypal, and Zelle.
We need support to keep our clean air gear library active & to expand it. Donations help us cover our monthly operating expenses and save up for the new gear we want to add!

Thank you to everyone who shared our posts &/or contributed to our Earth Day fundraiser last Monday!
We were able to start the day at $1,140 & ended the day at $2,300, thanks to 22 folks & $400 in matching funds from a generous MN Tool Library donor!
Thank you to everyone who contributed to our fundraiser yesterday! With the 1-day matching opportunity we were able to raise $931!

All donations made TODAY, Monday 4/22, will be matched by $5 or 25% (whichever is larger) thanks to a matching donation to the @mntoollibrary!
So if you have been thinking about giving $5, today is the day!!!

High five for Earth Day!
NOTE: Our earlier post incorrectly stated that the full donation would be matched. We apologize for the error, especially to people who had already donated before we caught the mistake. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
thanks for sharing the post earlier! I had to delete that one, so the earlier share is now also deleted, just as a heads up.
I'll have to delete the post, so these reminders might disappear (my heart for an edit button)
My bad! Thanks for the reminder. Alt text incoming.
(also, dang, that is really high! That is where you would want the highest CADR, but I have to assume that room would feel breezy!)
thank you for the note!
Here's our most recent "Guide to Choosing an Air Purifier" post, with all the images in one place!
Here is an example of the math for both an ACH and L/p/s standard!
10/10
if you want to see the math....9/10
@cleanairstars.com's filters.cleanairstars.com is an easy to use tool to help you search by what standard you want to meet and noise level
8/10
Noise is the MOST OVERLOOKED part of using an air purifier.
35 dBA - sleep, quiet classroom, livingroom
40 dBA - average classroom, quiet office
45 dBA - noisy office, childcare, or classroom
50 dBA - loud childcare, gym, or restaurant
60 dBA - very loud bar or pub
7/10
Different organizations have put out different people-based standards. ASHRAE's "241" standard, released in 2023, incorporates what activity people are doing, recognizing that more aerosols are released when people are sick, speaking loudly or breathing heavily.
6/10
A Liters per Person per Second standard is based on the number of people in a room, not the size of the room. A L/p/s standard is preferred by Share Clean Air MSP because it is based on how many sources of aerosols there are.
5/10
Air Changes per Hour is based on the size of a room, and how often the volume of air in that room gets filtered. Different authorities have put out different standards.
CDC: 5 ACH
Ontario Society of Professional Engineers: 6 ACH
The Lancet (a top medical journal): 6 ACH
4/10
There are two types of standards:
Air Changes per Hour, based on the amount of space and
Liters per Person per Second, based on number of people
3/10
There are 2 questions to answer:
1) How much Air Filtration do I need?
2) How quiet do I need it?
