The military is cooked in a way that football is not (imo). I believe we are going to have waves of resignations as decent people retire for their own safety and moral health. Football still offers so much money that decent men might be willing to put up with a few years of it. Less dangerous too.

In fact, neither organization can succeed in a racist environment. It poisons morale and harms people on the field because no one is looking out for each other. Can't win rings or liberation like that. All you have are a collection of temporary mercs loyal to nothing who get off on death/torture.

I think people view the military in the same way they view football. Because you have team owners and those in the office who are disgustingly racist, people assume that mentality permeates the entire organization. But some coaches and players work very hard to achieve an antiracist environment.

Being black is not telling viciously mean DEI jokes about current events to ridicule the very racists trying to harm you because you know how unstable they are. Even though said jokes are very relevant and very funny.

There's an added element as a POC/female creator in that we are a disproportionately larger audience than average outside of comics. Especially in games and movies and prose. So obviously comics is not going to be as pressed to retain us as other divisions. You go where you're wanted.
