As 9/11 first responders face cuts to health care, Jon Stewart returns to the public eye to fight Former "Daily Show" host Jon Stewart has led the public fight to fund health care costs for ailing 9/11 first responders.

Anyway.

Today I’m remembering that the EMTs and firefighters who rescued people from Ground Zero and suffered horribly for years afterward only got relief when Jon
Stewart shamed legislators for a solid decade.

May we all be a dog with a bone when it matters.

I was in NYC on 9/11. I was under the towers, in the subway, between the 1st & 2nd strikes. I watched the them burn from my office rooftop. I was in the ash cloud.

The attack caused a national autoimmune reaction. We've destroyed ourselves over the past 24 years, fighting off a memory of a threat.

Two lockdowns at HBCUs today, and now an “incident” at the DNC HQ. Stay safe out there, my fellow academics, Washingtonians, Americans, and other humans.

Can someone please build an AI tool that will read all your social media feeds, filter out the ads and garbage, and repackage it in a custom feed that aggregates content from across these services while providing users full control over how it is all displayed?

Attention #AcademicSky Everyone is talking about books, but thousands of academic journals were also pirated and are entitled to up to $3,000 *per pirated volume!!!* if editors submit titles to join the suit. Incredible opportunity for underfunded journals to get some $$! #SkyStorians #MedievalSky

Ending Political, Electoral and Social Issue Advertising in the EU in Response to Incoming European Regulation From early October 2025, we will no longer allow political, electoral and social issue ads on our platforms in the EU. This is a difficult decision - one

Meta ends political ads on their platforms in the EU by October because they don't want to comply with new transparency and targeting regulations.

The reasons given here are really weak. And if you do *not* allow these ads, you still need to define what they are.

I want to take you back in time to any moment, literally any moment, when someone told this guy that.

Not so smart, now, in a “I can’t believe what this loaded gun in my hands just did!” way after all.
