As a kid, my Gramma fell downtown in our small city, Prince Rupert. Broke her wrist and looked disoriented.

No one stopped to help her. I found her, bloody, broken wrists.

It takes 2 minutes.

My favourite thing about growing up Indigenous is automatically seeing the beauty or opportunity in something or an event. It’s a message… a teaching, whether we like it or not, we take meaning from it and let it guide us. Everything has a purpose, a reason, and a lesson.

With a side of humour 🪶

I have a Saturday routine. Reading, tea, errands, gym, and occasionally a donair to treat myself.

I order the same donair and the same person always finishes my order with “cucumbers and pineapple as usual <insert my name>?”

Creature of habit to the end.

Camping with my kids this week. Had a beautiful yellow dragonfly find a peaceful spot on my hand next to my daisy ring.

I’m surprising someone by making a ribbon skirt. Practicing to help my team with Ribbon skirt workshops in the fall as well.

Every time I hear the sewing machine, I think of my Dad. His upholstery shop was my summer camp as a kid.

I miss him 💜

Nothing is more powerful than an Indigenous woman who has remained grounded through a ten year long storm of loss, messy change, and starting over.

Always remember you are the children you ancestors prayed for. The reason they stood tall. You are the living memory of their lives 🪶

Think of how amazed your ancestors are at where you are now. Guaranteed, we are the wishes and hopes they held on to so dearly.

You are the result of their love and dedication. You are the culmination of their dreams 🌙

Back from a week of adventures with my kids. At 8 and 11… they’re still my babies and also co-pilots. We’ve been on our own for 6yrs.

Seek out new things, take risks, phone down, savour the moments.

I can’t wait to see what they do on their own knowing that each summer we took off on adventures.

5yrs ago I bought a dress on sale in winter. It fit but just a tad snug on top. Hit some road bumps in my health, gained weight, lost it again recently while building some epic muscle.

Now the dress doesn’t fit on the bottom and it’s the first physical evidence I have of too many legs days 🤦🏽‍♀️ 🏋️‍♀️

If I had a loonie for every person who’s asked me to help them figure out their spirit animal, I’d have enough to be covered in tattoos.

If you are curious, bring me a loonie and a tea and we’ll talk. No guarantees you will walk away with a spirit animal but at least one of us gets something 🪶

My kids were talking about Pride and an experience they had with homophobia came up.

8yo: Phobia means you’re afraid of something. Like, I don’t like spiders so I have a phobia maybe.

11yo: But why is homophobia a word?

8yo: It’s okay to be afraid but I don’t like that word, that’s just hate.

Did a thing today and filled up the last remaining large space of my heal and grow 90s sticker book sleeve 🩷

Im calling the elbow banger an anti-phoenix peony as a reminder that we need the darkness to really appreciate the light 🌺

I always encourage folks to read the full history of the court documents on this awful experience for the sisters. It’s pretty horrendous when the picture begins to unravel.

Let it be known that May 30th was the day my ex-husband apologized for the first time in history. Also the day he decided to believe we’ve been divorced for 4yrs.

I’ve had a weighted vest for three days. Walked 15km so far.

10km in which I wore the silly thing upside down. Plenty of signs it was upside down including the brand name, buckles not fitting right, d-rings to hang things at the bottom sitting on my shoulders.

I hear ya, I had a 650 shadow. Something I read in folks that want a street bike in the 650 range and I hear it in their voice is the… danger factor. That mischievous “go big or go home” mentality that is dangerous, not the bike itself.

I’m open to anything that keeps him from looking at 600cc and up. From what I’ve seen, there’s a weird insecurity over lower displacement but my naked 400 is peppy for what I need. For a learner, I always recommend starting low and upright until you get a feel for the clutch, maybe that’s just me.
