Asda onion bhaji packaging, lying to us by saying that 12 of them serves 12
12 party onion bhajis...serves 12?
What kind of lunacy is this?

Older but not necessarily wiser. Phil Thompson nearly ran me over and Sammy Lee told me I look like Eric Clapton. Not sure which was worse. Once complimented on my beard by Jeremy Corbyn. Would put cauliflower and Mick Hucknall into Room 101.

Exactly. If I'd wanted a glass of milk, I'd have ordered one!
05.03.2026 08:10 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Yes, I know there are bigger issues in the world right now. But if hot drinks stands at train stations aren't going to let you put your own milk in, they really need to realise that "just a splash" doesn't mean "three quarters of a pint".

"I can't believe it's finishing like this!"
Well it couldn't have got any worse, could it?
Might be the most predictable goal of the season, that. Absolutely guaranteed.
03.03.2026 21:51 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Well. Seen better halves.
03.03.2026 21:11 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0It helps that most of their b sides are better than a lot of bands' a sides!
03.03.2026 20:46 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0The other is from the last tour with the "old" line up, and given that Ginger's been pretty vocal about how boring he thought the setlists were then because the others just wanted to play the same old stuff, you csn probably guess 90% of what's on it! π
03.03.2026 20:43 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Yeah one of them is from the tour when the Strike Back live album was recorded, so there are a few deep cuts on there.

Stiff Little Fingers, Proclaimers, CJ Wildheart (from when he was doing CJ & The Satellites), Ian Prowse, and a couple of Wildhearts ones.
The SLF and Proclaimers ones, I knew the lad that was the stage manager at the venue so he sorted us out with them.
Can't see Szoboszlai's hair without thinking of the story of Alex Ferguson making a player train wearing a balaclava because he'd got a perm.
03.03.2026 20:06 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0One thing I've never done, the blagging my way backstage bit. Got quite a few setlists on the wall though!

Well some of those Kerrang CD song choices were a bit random. They had form for putting obscure b sides on them, that were almost impossible to find anywhere else. Sure they did it with Symposium as well.
Oh jeez, Amen. I loved them when I saw them. The girlfriend I was with at the time HATED them.
Makes it easier to sell you what you've already bought that way

2026 First Listens
#14 - Bruno Mars 'The Romantic'
The title points to what's in store here. Nowhere near as many bangers as on his previous albums, as he unleashes his inner 'Mr Loverman'.
I saw him on his last tour and it's in my top 10 gigs. I can't imagine these songs will be as bouncy live.
Definitely not. There'll be a lot of people who'll find it very difficult to get hold of the magazines they want if it goes.

On one hand, the fact that John Menzies perished years ago and Smiths survived was a travesty.
On the other, it's the only place left that's reasonably accessible to buy a lot of magazines at cover price without paying (a lot, in some cases) for postage on top.
It's not great, but it has its uses.
I'm sure the HWP album wasn't out yet, it was a week or two before it was released, so the only song most of the crowd knew was 'Dog', and they didn't play it.
Almost like a dare. "We're not doing the one song you might actually know, and you're *still* gonna love us".
It worked. They were great.
Bit of both. A few songs worked well live, the rest really didn't. Performance wise, they really leaned into the "we're a bit odd" element - lots of staring into the distance, seemed a bit robotic. Didn't come across well, for me anyway.
03.03.2026 07:51 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Haven't listened to this for YEARS. Played it to death when it first came out, but massively disappointed when I saw them live. Human Waste Project supported and were brilliant, CC were terrible.
02.03.2026 23:56 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0So the last two weeks have been utterly shite. Thank goodness there's no world-war-type chaos going on as well, because that'd just be horrendous.

Ten movies to know me by (in no particular order):
1 Star Wars (ANH)
2 Back To The Future
3 Superman II
4 North By Northwest
5 JFK
6 Rebel Without A Cause
7 Grease
8 The Breakfast Club
9 A Fish Called Wanda
10 Some Like It Hot
Could've been at least 20.
I spent much of the 00s going to see local bands around Sheffield, so it's quite possible that I saw them playing in a pub at some point. I genuinely have no idea if I did or not.
My favourite AM song from that period isn't on the album though, It was a b side (contrary elitist bastard that I am).
The dumbest fucking writer of all time

I keep coming back to this piece, which nails that very well.

I've just told my publishers to remove the Daily Mail quote they were going to put on the cover of the paperback of my latest novel. I don't care if the Daily Mail gave it a good review. The name of that shitrag is not going on the cover of my book.
