Same, it's a bit annoying because as an artist, I've always been so careful about taking breaks and not over exerting myself to avoid it, then cutting CDs with scissors for a project got me apparently 😭

It doesn't feel so bad so hoping meds and rest will do their job lol

Apparently, a uni assignment fucked up my hand, and I might've gotten carpal tunnel. It seems to have worsened these past few days, so sadly I'll need to pause Digitober until I figure out what the fuck is going on :')

It was horrifying. Nobody could've seen that battle coming, nor the aftermath. As Anina held a barely responsive Taichi who had been lunged against a tree during the fray, she saw pixels leaving her body, and a deep desperation took hold of her. "Taichi..!! Taichi, listen to me, Taichi!! Don't go, don't... don't leave me..! You can't leave me..." "...Anina..." Comforted by her embrace, Tai's body began to glow. Anina felt her change shape in her arms, becoming smaller, rounder... when the glow ceased, an egg rested on her lap instead of her best friend. Nobody really knew what had just happened, not even the digimon. None of them had ever died before - did she even die? Would she still remember her after she hatched? There were many questions without answers. Anina was inconsolable; she couldn't stop crying, to the point that Akira had to take her away to decompress for a while. When they came back, her eyes were tired, red, and lifeless. All she ever did was clutch the egg in her hands, hoping with every fiber of her being that she could have her best friend back.

Day 18: Death

Tai pushed herself past her limit and, unfortunately, had to pay the price for it. Anny is not taking it very well 😔

Although Wendigomon is a notoriously evil digimon, I like to believe it falls under the universal rule of nature versus nurture - no species of digimon is completely evil. Some are just more likely to lean in that direction than others. Mal had a strong thirst for destruction and predisposition for darkness - he wanted to fight all the time, bite anyone except Akira when they got too close, and was much akin to an angry chihuahua, even as a lopmon. The saving grace was that he was way weaker than the other digimon around him, so the threat was minimal. Akira, however, had made Malroth a promise. Ever since their fight against Gryzmon, he was never going to let any bigger digimon step on him or make fun of him, ever again. He knew Mal was weaker, but trained him, knowing his limitations. He was patient, didn't overwork him, and let him take breaks to rest and play. Despite everything, Akira still preferred to avoid fighting whenever possible instead of charging in. Mal was showing outstanding progress, but still showed his nasty side to other kids and digimon for no particular reason. One night, when the two were on watch duty, Akira talked to Mal in private. "Hey Mal... Don't be too mean to my new friends, okay? I know they are lame, but... I don't have a lot of them. I don't want to lose the ones I've got." Ever since, Mal stopped headbutting and biting everyone! Sure, he still growled pretty often, but he was so tolerant, now! The sentiment carried over with his evolution to Wendigomon. He is well aware of his whopping new strength, yet has become quite the gentle giant... if you can look past the nasty attitude, that is. Some things just never change.

Day 17: Virus

Hurricane Touchdown was my first Digimon movie. It's been years, but I distinctly remembered scenes from it when rewatching with a friend more recently, so Wendigomon seared a permanent memory in my brain, haha. Love that freakshow.

When Namakemon caught the kids in a trap that separated everyone from their digimon, Java's biyomon was the only digimon caught and jailed alongside them. Java has been treating her poorly, and the two have become estranged these past few weeks. Everyone else managed to reach champion stage with their digimon during this time except for them. Ifrit being there... well, it didn't change their situation much. They weren't talking to each other anymore, not even simple greetings. This, though - this was different. Not only does Java's life depend on her cooperation, but so does everyone else's. Overrun by stress, Java knelt, ready to beg for help. "Please... Don't make them suffer for what I did..." She grits her teeth. "I know you hate me ... After we're free, you don't have to do anything else for me... so please, biyomon, please... I need your help..." Ifrit, despite everything, felt the fear in Java's heart and her sincere motivation to help everyone around them. Even though she was mean... seeing her, prostrated like that, proud as she was, broke her heart. She knew there was a pain she was carrying that she couldn't let out, but... something told her she might finally be letting her walls down.

Day 14: Trapped

The kids were trapped by Namakemon's evil clutches - one of Etemon's many servants. Java and biyomon need to work out their differences if they want to get away.

When Etemon trapped the kids, he stole Kat's little polaroid camera and took a bunch of stupid selfies, or made gazimon take pictures of him. He used all of her film, what the hell man! What a JERK!!

Java has a severe aversion to anything feminine, so having Pyokomon then biyomon later did not sit well with her. She was hoping she would turn into something less girly upon evolution, but that was anything but it. It was really frustrating to be stuck with this pink thing when everyone else was getting cool dinosaurs, bugs, and dogs. She was purposefully mean to Ifrit many times, mocking her and making acidic commentary about her likes and her appearance. It didn't feel fair, she wasn't like that with anyone else's digimon! She would pet them, be supportive, or even play with them - but suddenly, all the smiles and friendliness were gone when it was her. She didn't touch her, nor did she get too much in her personal space - so why was Java only like that with her?! She didn't understand it at all; it was so frustrating! It started with one comment Akira made right after Ifrit evolved. "Haha, look at you! You dress like a guy, but you're still a girl at the end of the day~" It wasn't malicious at all, just friendly teasing, but the words wouldn't leave Java's mind. It kept pissing her off when she thought about it, and she didn't know why. She hated when people assumed things about her because she was a girl, or thought they could tell her what to do or how to behave. Ifrit felt like a walking reminder that it didn't matter how cool she dressed or how much she didn't want to be perceived; at the end of the day, she was still a girl. Haru understands how she feels, in part. He's loved pink, girly things, dresses, and floral patterns all his life. He thought Java was so lucky - at least she got to wear what she liked! His parents would never let him pick the patterns or colors he wanted. They were not proper for the son of a ceo, they would say. His lucky necktie was the only pink they'd let him wear. Of course, Ifrit can't really help the way she looks, and Haru has to remind Java that it's not nice to pick on others just because of the way they look.

Day 12: Friends

Friends aren't always happy - sometimes they also fight a lot. This is why we need other friends to steer us in the right direction, every now and then!

Akira and Anina asked Katherine to take a picture of them with their digimon, just to make a funny face and treat it anything but seriously. Kat couldn't help but giggle because the two are really like siblings despite not being related by blood... They even got Mal (lopmon) and Taichi (agumon x) to pose with them.

Akira confidently holds up the enhancement card that he used to give Malroth Togemon's gloves for their training session, cheering his digimon on. Malroth (lopmon) charges forward, bandages on his arms as he destroys a boulder with a punch with the gloves. The effects resemble digimon TCG.

Akira knows his lopmon isn't the strongest guy on the block, but that's okay - he's going to train his buddy until he's strong enough to not let any other big guys step on him! With a little help from Togemon via enhancement card!

Caprimon and Tanemon were playing on the seesaw when they decided to try and use it as a catapult. Hestia tries to catch the mischievous Tanemon before it reaches the ground. A little jyarimon was causing trouble, so Mellow (funbeemon) had to hold onto it before it got itself hurt, just to be nearly hit by a flying onion projectile... nyokimon and tokomon are just chilling in the bg.

Hestia and Mellow are babysitting a bunch of very rambunctious kids. They were too cute and she immediately volunteered to look after them, but well... They're very, very energetic and mischievous 😂

Daikichi was hoping to cuddle his best friend Hiro for warmth but was twarthed by a needy gigimon! They're both lying on the seat of a bus stop while it tries to get between them. A tsumemon lays on Dai's lap, and many babies sleep soundly under the bus stop. Babydmon and puroromon are cuddling in their sleep, xiaomon and koromon are fucking good warmth, and tsunomon is enjoying the rain while he sleeps.

Day 5: Shelter!

Daikichi has a big crush on his best friend Hiro and was kinda looking forward to some cuddling to warm up. If only Gigimon didn't make such a strong point to be included!!!!

McNair and Hestia dance together in a ballroom at night, looking in eachother's eyes full of tenderness.
