The partial collapse of the Clearwater Tunnel earlier this month raised serious questions about this project & how the Sanitation Districts will make sure nothing like that happens again.

Our operator has announced a few times that the elevator at Manchester Station is out of order. I’m thankful that she’s alerting riders, but my team is checking with Metro staff about the status of getting it back into service. Our riders deserve an accessible system.

Every Purple Heart recipient has endured what most cannot imagine. They have borne wounds in defense of this country – physical, emotional, and spiritual.

Today, ahead of Purple Heart Day on August 7th, I had the honor of recognizing 15 of these heroes at our Board meeting. 💜

On June 2 at about 11:30pm, Benjamin was shot by someone in a silver or champagne-colored sedan on Broadway Ave. in Whittier. The suspect fled in their vehicle, headed north on Broadway, then east on Washington Blvd.

Benjamin Ryan Castaneda was shot and killed on June 2 while he sat in his car here in Whittier. He had his entire life ahead of him.

The Board of Supervisors approved my motion to offer $20,000 for information leading to an arrest, and today I join LASD in calling for the public’s help.

Today we marked 70 years of Hahn family memories at Disneyland.

My parents took my brother and me to opening day—and today we saw the scroll the Board of Supervisors, including my dad, presented for their “tencennial.”

This time, we presented the scroll. Congrats, Disneyland!

Thinking about John Lewis, who we lost 5 years ago today.

When I served with him in Congress, we got into "good trouble" at a sit-in on the House floor, calling for commonsense gun legislation after the horrific Pulse nightclub shooting.

His legacy of good trouble lives on.

LA County Fire Chief Marrone & I are calling on the EPA to remove 75 tons of illegal fireworks and 27 pallets of hand sanitizer from a warehouse in Commerce ASAP.

This is a recipe for disaster, and it needs to be dealt with immediately.

At yesterday's meeting, I introduced a motion to ban law enforcement officers from concealing their identities. We'll vote on it July 29.

Now let’s release the other 2,000—and all of these masked ICE agents while we’re at it.

The service 988 provides to LGBTQ+ youth in crisis is critically important. The time to act is now, and we must come together to ensure that we are continuing to support LGBTQ+ youth here in LA County.

Here in LA County, we celebrate and protect our LGBTQ+ community.

That is why I am bringing forward a motion now with @lindseyphorvath.bsky.social for LA County to look at ways that we can keep the connection between 988 and LGBTQ+ crisis counseling.
