The 400 richest Americans are now worth a record $6.6 trillion.

The entire bottom 50% of America is worth just $4.2 trillion.

Read that back.

When 400 people control more wealth than half a country’s population, we have a very serious problem.

On this date, Matthew Shephard died 27 years ago. He was beaten, tortured, and left for dead on fence for being gay. Please keep him and his wonderful mother Judy in your thoughts. And let's all work for a world where such horrific things do not happen to anyone. ❤️🏳️‍🌈

The great grandpa looks younger than the grandpa. Overall, a very nice picture worth keeping.

As a bookish kid, I admired the Supreme Court for having the character to unanimously come out against segregation in the 1950s, when no other branch of our government would have had that courage.

So it saddens me to see it lose its way and endorse judging people for the color of their skin today.

BRUTAL JOBS REPORT: Just 22,000 jobs added in August. Unemployment rises to 4.3%. Broader jobless rate jumps to 8.1%. Slowest 4-month growth since 2020. Plus, downward revisions for June and July of -21,000. Yikes.

Starbucks’ CEO made 6,666x more than the company's median employee in 2024.

This was the widest CEO-to-Worker pay gap in the entire S&P 500.

Remember this before you order your next pumpkin spice latte.

Frey: I think the impetus has to be on all of us to recognize that we've got more guns in this country than we have people, and it's on all of us to recognize the truth and the reality that we can't just say that this shouldn't happen again, and then allow it to happen again and again

Think New Mexico isn’t fighting for patients, they’re fighting for private equity.

There’s a doctor shortage because Wall Street buys up community hospitals, guts staff, and turns ERs into cash cows. Patients wait 16 hours for care while profits soar.

Private equity is strip-mining hospitals.

Gupta: Here’s why this matters:

1. Because the FDA indications have changed, if I prescribe it to you, I’m opening myself up to a lawsuit. He directly signals that…

2. A pharmacist is no longer able to prescribe and administer a COVID-19 booster that doesn’t meet indications.

I want to live in an America that guarantees health care to every person.

I want to live in an America where you have free speech to express yourself and not be afraid of being put on a list or deported.

I’ve said it before but reading all the medieval history books I’ve been reading lately has been so comforting. Makes you realize that there have always been mad and incompetent kings and they almost always die in ignominy and everyone piles shit on them for centuries after they’re gone.
