Lynley Shimat Lys has written a dazzling lyric essay/review of Monique Wittig's The Lesbian Body for @anmlymag.bsky.social - "How is it possible to write at all when your access to other worlds comes fragmented in remnants of Sappho?"

Check out our interview with Stage & Screen alum Mckensi Scy Pascall on the power of creativity, finding inspiration, and how the stipend she received from CCW gave her the confidence she needed to believe in her story and keep writing:

Today, Trump is dismantling much of the Department of Education. He has ordered wrestling executive-turned-Education Secretary Linda McMahon to shut most of her department.
But there’s a much larger story here. robertreich.substack.com/p/trumps-att...
Tyrants view educated citizens as their greatest enemy.
Slaveholders stopped the enslaved from learning to read. Nazis burned books. Dictators censor media.
That’s why Trump is attacking education, science, museums, and the arts – to prevent us from learning.
It's Fascism 101.
the idea that poor people or people with cognitive disabilities or physical limitations should get a high quality education. that’s it.
for these people the answer is no. and i will tell you why, it is because they are eugenicists.
for the one millionth time, the dept of education just monitors access to education. civil rights, title ix, disabilities, making sure everybody gets a fair opportunity.
this is not about curriculum. states design those standards. this is an attack on the idea of fairness in education.

It’s my book! On international women’s day! Because I’m an international woman!
“For those of us who live at the shoreline / standing upon the constant edges of decision / crucial and alone / for those of us who cannot indulge / the passing dreams of choice / who love in doorways coming and going / in the hours between dawns…” — Audre Lorde
All this business I am reading about social security is nonsense. My mom died on 2/18. My dad got a letter yesterday informing him her benefits were ending and he had to repay the February payment because they don’t give a payment in the month someone dies. They know where every dollar is.

New at PB, @VikaMujumdar.bsky.social explores poet Don Mee Choi’s KOR-US trilogy of poetry books, which examine selfhood, coming-of-age, and, later, her compulsion to catalogue.

Born 2-22-25, #EdwardGorey would’ve been 100 today. “Working quite perversely to please himself,” he created “a whole little world” (Edmund Wilson). Happy centennial, Edward; you were born to be posthumous. May you always “make everyone as uneasy as possible.” (www.markdery.com/books/born-t...)
It’s the stories from park rangers that are really hurting me today. You are the librarians of the natural world; human gateways to new worlds and new modes of being. Down with the oligarchy!! @altnps.bsky.social #altNps
You know the drill! Go follow Black folk! 😍
CDC said that it now classified the #flu season as high severity for all age-groups for the first time since the 2017-18 season.
Over the past 2 weeks, flu deaths have outpaced fatalities from #COVID and now make up 2.6% of all deaths for the most recent week, compared to 1.5% for COVID.
It was a rhetorical ask. As a Xennial I remember the sizism of the era well. I'm just remarking on how it peppers otherwise sensitive dialogue fr the vantage of decades later. Sadly the reboot too has yet more remarks. It's a fantasy show ultimately, what w the leads constantly binge eating.
I especially encourage folks to focus on fortifying and protecting those who are most vulnerable + resistance leaders - as well as drawing more folks to summon their own power and stand up for the good of the community.
Witches, looking for a full moon working? It's a good time to pull out the Medusa Sigil and modify this working as needed.
