-give them something to hold onto in the first place; especially not now, nearly 9 years into the vtubing industry, post-pandemic, after the industry has been devastated by back to back indie vtubing group collapses, scandals, and mass graduations.

It wasn't easy then, and it isn't now.

-else's, or growing that community yourself by being the kind of person that someone actually wants to watch. I'm assuming that what you want is for a company to generate a fanbase for you via marketing, but there's no guarantee any of these people will actually stick around if you don't-

Well, yeah, of course it's rude if that's what your end goal is, but if your goal is to just have a "pre-established community" there isn't really a way to get something like that beyond joining someone else's community and making friends and/or people who like your content adjacent to someone-

-find interesting, and that was true even before the twitch changes. In which case...

:think: If everyone in you followers and following list shares the same timezone, exact same interests, streams the same thing, and has the same schedule maybe. In practice that doesn't really happen too often until you've made a *lot* of connections. Beyond that, ultimately people watch who they-

Following that, I also strongly suggest against any general "community" servers that don't have a central point, especially ones that have literal thousands of members. Its easy to lose your voice in a server like that, and in my experience the clout chasing is worse.

-this for awhile just develop boundaries and a sense for what associations are "strictly business" and what are "actual friends." There's no easy way around that and you'll need to learn social skills surrounding that concept at some point in order to not be taken advantage of.
