I'm old enough to remember pulling out of world health orgs because god forbid we financially support other counties with diseases that will ultimately effect us but we absolutely can take over random countries for no reason.

What's remarkable is not just that Trump is so loathsome and narcissistic that he doesn't care when an innocent woman is killed in a protest unless and until he finds out that her dad was a fan of his ... it's that he's so disregulated he *can't help but say so out loud*.

When your job is email, people love to give you more email saying "it's simple, just giving information" but then people respond back angry and it's like, this is not my email I don't know.

elise stefanik’s whole campaign for governor was relying on trump amplifying accusations that mamdani is a jihadist and not only did he have a great time meeting the guy, he directly rejected agreeing with stefanik, specifically.

incredible stuff

Love Blueskys more mature vibe until I'm looking for people complaining about the Thrilljoy block party at SDCC.

Hey book lovers! Support your local library, of course. Also! Cool news! @bookshop.org has free shipping July 8-11. They also now sell ebooks, which is an excellent development. AND if you sign up for their email, there are periodic boook/ebook deals & I've snapped up many fine books that way. 💚📖🔥📘

AOC: "On this point of tax on tips, as one of the only people in this body who has lived off of tips, I want to tell you a little bit about the scam ... the cap on that is $25,000 while you're jacking up taxes on people who make less than $50,000 across the US ... while kicking them off the ACA."

Gov. Tim Walz State Address: "We have university students shoved into unmarked vans and fathers being tossed into Salvadorian gulags without a hint of due process. If you say you love freedom, but you don't believe freedom is for everybody, then the thing you love isn't freedom, it's privilege."

presidents should get a probationary period and if their approval rating falls below 50% at any point within their first three months in office we get to eject them from the country with a catapult

Tomorrow, a certain online mega-retailer launches a book sale, just days before Indie Bookstore Day on 4/26. This is no coincidence; Bookstore Day is one of the largest revenue drivers for indies.

Indies need our support to thrive & build community spaces for all...mega-retailers do not.

"How do they know they are straight or gay?" Is she saying that everyone has to sleep with all genders before deciding on one? That seems pretty radical but okay, let's do it.

Steve Silberman's groundbreaking book NeuroTribes, which fully debunked any story of an "autism epidemic," is 10 years old this summer. The answer has been out there for a decade. He'd be LIVID about this.

An illustration…Surreal monochrome with bands and textures resembling flowing fabric. Stars pepper the background. A false color image of the actual Orion nebula, where you can see many of the features from the illustration, but without the foldy fabric bands.

Absolutely obsessed with this late 19th century illustration of the Orion Nebula by Otto Boeddicker.

It is time to be honest with the hardships that come with libraries. You need a notary? Sorry, we had to lay them off. You need a museum pass? Sorry, budget cuts bc funding for both libraries and education is gone. You need a book on anatomy to homeschool your kid? Sorry, someone challenged that.
