A face, slightly uplifted with eyes closed and peaceful expression. The plane of the face are slightly geometric, as if an almost finished sculpture in flesh. The face is positioned on a background of null space, a dark brownish navy with tiny specks of light. The face is glowing and shows the beat of a pulse or electrical activity at the forehead and temples, continuing outwards as it gradually transforms from beat, to sparks, to musical notes. Digital artwork using photographic source material, hand drawing and digital image manipulation.

— Source of Man —

began

deep in the grey,
where rhythm knocks

minds first
of song
then word —
sparked
then bloomed

carried
on primordial pulse
into the now

resolving

in us

A digital artwork created to continue my recent poem, 'Source of Man'. I'm new to this medium, but enjoying the experimentation.

Paper-like background featuring a 3-line poem in a handwritten font. Text reads: gentle whispers
caress a quiet ripple
ever outwards

— Parking Ticket —

Does freedom live
in the sunset
beyond the next turn?

Where the phones
fall silent
Signposts read
'Welcome'

The clock breathes
slowly
and smiles

- Poetry Resides-

the taste of a word
on your tongue,
lingering
with the scent
of old memories,
spice-laden flavours
of your heart

laid down
in the precarious grey
depths, waiting,
synapses

occasional fluttering
spark

cherished

those inner vessels
in which we store,
distill
essence of remembered
time
and self
aged like fine wine
or mouldy cheese

breathing in
the scent of it,
breathing out

vivid in ink

— Bellbird's Echo —

I recall a walk along the creek
interest waning as a child's will, constrained
by the aeons required by one's elders
to ponder ancestry and heritage
of a single, chance, velvety khaki leaf –

Lovely ☺️
I've just finished working on a small series of poems exploring music. I really love how you've distilled your thoughts into such seemingly simple words here. Bravo!

Nope. You'd think we could have evolved at least a few decent alternatives over the centuries though.

soul or souls (in the non- religious sense) - it's hard to find other words or phrases that convey the 'everything' covered by that one word

— Oh! —

a moment
hanging on an aeon
in airless, aching
resignation

crash foreseen
unstoppable

THIS instant, whole
THIS instant, a million sparkling
shards

blessing
the glass was empty?
nothing but a few
drops
trembling in the remnants

Decided to change two words:

— Source of Man —

began

deep in the grey,
where rhythm knocks

minds
of song
then word,
sparked
then bloomed

carried
on primordial pulse
into the now

resolving in
us

This is a work in progress. I'm thinking I might keep this fragment as a standalone, eventually within a larger piece. #poetry

Thought I'd tackle this very simplistically, in a monoku-like style. Like it? Hate it? Meh?
Feedback welcome.

That's better! Tried multiple versions, and just wasn't happy. Much happier with these words, this format, maybe this pic (can't find a better one in my camera roll). The photo was taken somewhere in the NT, travelling with my parents (the car in front) to visit my brother (Darwin).

Photograph taken through the windshield of a vehicle, looking ahead at a white 4WD driving a very slightly winding, dusty red track continuing forward into the distance. The landscape is slightly hilly outback terrain featuring sparse stiff, straw-like grasses, a few scrubby low bushes, and occasional scraggly gum tree.

This is meant to be a one-line poem with deliberate spacing, but I don't think I can make it format that way here, so it might look a bit weird.
