God revealed through the agency of people, Esther's actions are imbued with confidence based on a belief that hidden God is not uninvolved God. And that's already implied by her name.
The shift to Hebrew allows a play on God's warning to Moses (Deut 31:18 and elsewhere), that "esthir" I will hide My face when Israel sins and send them into exile. One of the messages of the book is a refusal to see God as absent in exile. So God's "I will hide" becomes....
That parallels Esther transformation from passive beauty to all-powerful queen to whom king and advisors yield, who calls for and gains the death of her enemies and then the commemoration of her acts before returning to her prior role.
Esther has the name of the goddess Ishtar, like her cousin [and maybe husband] Mordecai has the name Marduk. The midrash wordplays on his name too, but that's for another time. Who is Ishtar? A love goddess who becomes a war goddess [variously a child or spouse of same god]
Recreating a thread of bad jokes originally inspired by @samantharhill.bsky.social mentioning other bad Purim jokes partially because the megillah has some complex and brilliant wordplay, including the name of heroine Esther, who is both Ishtar and the sign of hidden but active God.
