I actually caught the last half on tv and thought the creature design was cool camp so I kept watching, but then by the end I found the climax super affecting. Underrated gem this one.

Weapons: That was one nutty ride.
There’s nothing much going on underneath thematically but it was made with technical chops.
Cregger obviously had a pure desire to make a horror-loving audience scream & laugh (sometimes simultaneously) & he mostly succeeds, especially in the second half.

Nightmare Castle. 1965. Classic Italian cruelty as ravishing Steele gets ghostly revenge on murderer Müller. Splendidly macabre gothic gold.

Well, it’s not really ethnic cleansing that’s being proposed. It’s the cleansing of the “wasteful eaters”. Drawing a clear connection between Rogan saying “fat people deserve to die” and eugenics without the qualifier of “soft” would be much more helpful imo. Just throwing out there.

Roddy is underrated af. Always elevated whatever trash he showed up in even as he was getting washed up.

Enjoyed this. Sufficiently creepy with great atmosphere and a lively performance from Roddy McDowall (one of our great quiet to LOUD actors). Would’ve loved to have seen how Mike Flanagan wouldn’t interpreted this and Matheson’s novel in The Haunting of Belasco House.

Not to OldGuyBrag but I saw this at the Nuart when it was new with Woo doing a Q&A after. Mike D and Kim Gordon were in the audience too.
