Dundee’s Games Cluster in the Spotlight as GAME-ER Research Project Seeks LocalΒ Expertise Everyone knows Dundee is the beating heart of Scotland's games ecosystem, but how many studios are based in the city? Researchers from Abertay University are calling upon the collective knowledge of the Dundee games community to help verify a comprehensive map of the city's renowned games cluster. The request comes as part of GAME-ER, a major European research project dedicated to understanding the dynamics of local and regional video game ecosystems.

The EU GAME-ER project at Abertay University is looking for local expertise to help verify its map of Dundee's game development community

Question to Zach Polanski at the leadership announcement:

"Q: How can you take on Nigel Farage when your policy on immigration is so different?"

Everything wrong with British politics and media summed up so succinctly in a single absolutely unhinged question.

It’s hard to look aroundβ€”at Blair pitching a luxury resort to be built on the Gaza killing fields or Keir Starmer responding to anti-Asian hate by affirming his affinity for the perpetratorsβ€”and not conclude that the elite’s real problem with Corbyn was that he wasn’t sufficiently Islamophobic.

I think George Osborne openly musing to the air that the security services probably wouldn’t have tolerated Labour winning in 2017, because of our relationship with America, is quite helpful and I’d like to hear more.

Compare the amount of coverage of a thousand or so fascist "protestors" has received with the tens and hundreds of thousands of left wing protestors over the years (austerity, Gaza, Iraq, BLM etc)

Some are painted as "legitimate concerns", others as noise or naive demands

Ask yourself why

Still one of the best most important books of this century. Just saw fantastic in its clarity of analysis, and virtually unassailable in the breadth of its evidence from history and anthropology.

400 counter protestors vs 15 fascists in Bristol

And yet it is the latter who are painted as expressing the "legitimate grievances" of "the people" by the mainstream media and politicians

This leads to emboldening and mainstreaming and it is a top down effect

I have done almost zero promo/sharing of the work I've done this year, so let's correct that with a thread of stuff I've written, worked on, helped with, etc.

I started the year with a post about European gaming emissions & what we can do about them.

It wouldn’t have been possible to turn aid delivery into daily machine gun massacres of civilians without all kinds of important people agreeing to pretend they were terrified that the UN aid programme was a terrorist enterprise. Specific people, whose statements are publicly available.

Try to imagine any other context where a news presenter describes credible reports that soldiers have been shooting huge numbers of teenagers and children *for sport*, for fun, and a politician gives this reaction.

Politics can be complex, but every so often it’s pretty easy to tell which side of history you’re on. For example, if you require the police to arrest elderly ladies for peacefully protesting against genocide, that’ll probably be the wrong side.

Comic strip by Stephen Collins, it begins with a nighttime city scene. In the next few panels, a mysterious figure, giant in the moonlight, walks towards us through the skyline. His feet echo "boom, boom" in the empty night.

A large title panel declares this character's name:

THE TW*T COLLECTOR.

He stands, giant, unseen in the empty city night, wearing a big pointy hat on his head, and a sort of long smock. He is carrying a large sack in his hand.

Slowly, he raises his arm, his arm extends, freakishly long, longer still, through the open window of a tower block. It reaches inside someone's home, and slowly withdraws, now clutching a protesting, terrified man. The man's wife comes to the window to watch his departure.

slowly, the giant raises the little man and inspectes him in his hand. After a pause, the man says "b-but I'm not a tw*t!"

There is another pause, after which his wife, calmly from off screen, says "you are a tw*t, dear".

The Tw*t Collector summarily throws the man in his bag, which we now see is full of screaming people and is labelled TW*TS, then stomps off into the distance, through the moonlit city.
