I find it ironic that IDE is such a complete pain in the ass on old PCs, but the Amiga 1200 from 1992 has an IDE port that basically just works with whatever you throw at it. At the time, using Amiga OS 3.0 you could even use drives up to 4GB in size.

No amount of likes will ever get me to support that turd clown.

Well, as you can see, it booted my image file from the BlueSCSI. I've never been happier to see a Windows splash screen 😂

I swapped out the ribbon cable and nothing changed then I tried a physical Quantum hard drive I have and when I did that, the SCSI card detected it! That prompted me to double check everything on the BlueSCSI. Turns out I had the ini file set up for initiator mode. *slaps forehead* It's been a day!

Finally I got fed up with IDE shenanigans (as I usually do on old PCs) and decided to use a SCSI card I got from ebay a few months ago. This isn't the first Adaptec ISA SCSI card I've used, and this isn't the first BlueSCSI I've used either. I could not get the card to see the BlueSCSI at all...

Finally got that settled. Then I tried using a Lo-tech ISA ROM card to wedge in the XT IDE bios. I was able to successfully flash the chip from DOS but the computer's BIOS wouldn't see it as an option ROM. I even tried other addresses besides D800 to no avail...

Feeling dumb today. I've been working on restoring an Acer Acros 486 machine and everything has been going wrong. First the power supply is acting stupid so I ended up just swapping the guts with another AT supply. Had to keep the housing as it's proprietary. That took all afternoon...

So if the sound of that leaves your mouth tasting of tar, here's what you want to do: In the url bar, type in about:config It'll give you a big scary warning page that you might poke holes in your browser. Good. You want to do that. Click continue. One by one, you're going to need to put each of these into the search bar in the page, not up top: browser.ml.enable browser.ml.chat.enabled extensions.ml.enabled browser.ml.linkPreview.enabled browser.tabs.groups.smart.enabled browser.tabs.groups.smart.userEnabled Each of these are gonna have a lil toggle icon on the right hand side that looks like a funky double-ended arrow. Click that and the value next to it should change to false. It all auto saves as you go. Some of these might already be set to false by default and that's peachy. The next best thing you can do for yourself is to set your default search engine to udm14 or Qwant, but for now, we're just tidying the garden a lil bit.
