Thank you to everyone who attended our IWD celebration! Today, we reflected on creating more spaces for women, delivered thank-you notes to businesses that donated for the raffle, enjoyed a walk around the three bridges, and had some well-deserved tea and chats. Photos will follow soon. 🫶
For our International Women’s Day World Café, a table will honor Edel Geraghty, focusing on Women & Politics. Edel, former WCI Limerick Coordinator, is remembered for her efforts in uniting women in solidarity on various political and social issues.
Santhi Corcoran will facilitate this table.
For our World Café on International Women’s Day we will have a table dedicated to Sinéad O’Connor, covering the topic of When Women Complain. We chose to honour Sinéad because she spoke truth to power, and her bravery will never be forgotten. This table will be facilitated by Karen Sugrue.

Our World Café on International Women’s Day will feature a table dedicated to bell hooks, focusing on Single Women. We honor bell for her contributions to race, feminism, social class, and single studies. Dr. Lindsey Liston will facilitate this table.
We had a lovely morning yesterday celebrating International Women's Day with the fab staff and women at the Northside Family Resource Centre. Thanks to the staff for the invitation and the wonderful women who attended.

We honour Mary for her 1970s advocacy in Ireland for contraception and family planning, which transformed opportunities for women. Camilla O’Donoghue will facilitate this table.
Our World Café on International Women’s Day will feature a table dedicated to Nell McCafferty, focusing on Men & State Violence Against Women. We honor Nell for her fearless journalism, truth-seeking for victims, and her role in the feminist movement. Siobhán O’Leary will facilitate.

We chose to honour Margaretta because of her lifelong commitment to social justice campaigns and activism. This table will be facilitated by Elaine D’Alton.
This event is free of charge but places are limited and must be reserved in advance. It takes place on Tuesday, March 10th, 6pm - 9:30pm in the Absolute Hotel. There will be light refreshments and a generous raffle on the night!

Join us on Tuesday, March 10th as we celebrate International Women's Day. Our event this year is Women's Wisdom, then & now. This will be a space to honour the women who have come before us, learn from their wisdom and for the women in the room to connect and share their wisdom and life experience.
Gráinne Carr is an experienced Coach, Trainer and Facilitator, and is a founder of Consent Matters Ireland – an organisation whose vision is to make society safer through consent education.
Gráinne will be our Guest speaker for our International Women's Day Celebrations!

In February we are reading: Why Women Like the Single Life More Than Men Do, by Bella DePaulo Ph.D.
A recent study that was done on the topic, by researcher at the University of Toronto, shows that women take to single life more readily than men.
The third meeting of the Limerick Feminist Book Club is taking place on Monday the 16th of March at the WCI Limerick offices on 28 John Street.
The group is going to read We Made It, Kid by Jackie McCarthy O'Brien.

This research to understand the experiences of single women, including the benefits and challenges of being single. The survey will take about 15 minutes to complete. Responses are anonymous and may be used in publications and reports. Participation is voluntary, you may choose not to participate.
