You thought you would try to correct my comment even though it’s bloody obvious people who don’t pay tax don’t get a tax reduction and now you’re irked that I am clarifying your incomplete information ? I’m really starting to see why this platform has the reputation it does πŸ₯΄

And to be more precise on your comment it isn’t only those living with disabilities and seniors. People who are single filers under 65 who make below the BPA for that year also do not pay federal income tax

I think it’s wisely understood that there would be no reduction on a rate of zero but if you want to be precise you could edit to say everyone with taxable income

We need a Canadian Heritage moment that shows society where there are no services that are currently funded by tax

15.05.2025 09:56 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

You will pay 14% tax on taxable income up to $57,375 instead of 15%. So whatever that works out to based on your income situation

They are divesting from Israel not Israelis . The answer to what has Israel done is β€œcommit war crimes to carry out a genocide”

To clarify for those who are unsure, everyone who earns taxable income is eligible for the Liberal tax cut. The 1% reduction applies to tax owing on up to $57,375 . Anything earned above that is taxed at the rate in the next bracket (as usual) but your rate is still reduced for tax on $57,375

15.05.2025 00:08 β€” πŸ‘ 42    πŸ” 2    πŸ’¬ 3    πŸ“Œ 0

It technically applies to everyone because it’s a 1% reduction on federal tax on earned income up to $57,375. (Income above that gets taxed at the rate in the next bracket (unchanged with this cut) but the person would qualify on the reduction of tax for the first amount)

What are the odds that Team Axe the Tax votes no on this ?

I just saw a video where a women said she thinks there should be a knowledge test for people to vote and then went on to imply that if they did that conservatives would have won and I’ll be sure to let you all know when I stop laughing about that

Is not one particular person/comment . In the lead up to the leadership race, election and since there were many post that read like Carney is infallible , Canada’s saviour , perfect. It makes me uneasy bc seeing someone as these things often means you won’t be critical or will give them passes etc

08.05.2025 19:21 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

I totally get that people want stability but we don’t have it. Trump is still a huge issue and the time between now and the next election is short given what we have to accomplish to ensure we don’t have Poilievre in office in the next few years

08.05.2025 16:18 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

I mean you refuse to hear about the people who refused to hear so I think my point has been proven. Have a nice day, John

08.05.2025 15:56 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

I don’t agree- A lot of people refused to hear anything remotely critical of the Trudeau Liberals

I agree that the latter is a serious problem but there is a big difference between scrutiny and a smear campaign. Some seem to think that these are the same if directed at their leader of choice

Not only do we have a right to criticize our governments - we have an obligation to.
Blind hero worship of ANY political party, ANY elected official is irrational & dangerous.
NO party, NO politician, is above reproach.
It makes us stronger when we stop excusing bad policy & hold them accountable.

That’s the thing, when you worship a politician, you’ll never criticize their awful policies, even when you are adversely affected.

If I don’t see it it can’t be happening is quite a childish worldview

You’d think seeing all the shit going on downstairs…we’d be more cautious?

While I am complimentary and hopefully optimistic that PM Carney will steer us in the right direction & I stand by my choice for him as my PM…

He still has work to do and the β€œcan do no wrong” attitude is dangerous.

I don’t care if sharing my opinion and observations is alienating me. I’d rather be honest than popular.

And agreeing that it’s happening but calling me a troll for acknowledging it is kinda dumb

08.05.2025 13:18 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

The point is that people are speaking about him like he’s infallible and that is problematic.

I didn’t paint anyone specifically; if people are taking something that doesn’t apply to them personally that’s not for me to control

No one said you can’t .

Again, if it doesn’t apply to you it’s not about you.

This isn’t about people being relieved. Im sorry I disrupted the echo chamber by saying something people don’t like and expecting them to , oh I dunno, manage their own feelings about why it feels personal

Indeed, the answer to a populist right isn’t an unchecked left. It’s going to be very interesting to see both how MC as a non-career politician will govern outside of current crisis management, as well as how media covers him in that role.

*shouldn’t treat them like they are infallible

08.05.2025 11:50 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

That was a typo. It definitely should have said we shouldn’t treat them that way
