Are we going to attack a South American country to distract from the Epstein files?

I was in the minority of not liking Inside as much as his previous specials but really enjoyed this song (and Welcome to the Internet) and have been thinking about this bit a lot this week

Dear Megyn Kelly,

There are only two types of people who care about the difference between ephebophilia and pedophilia; psychologists and pedophiles.

Happy 15th anniversary to my darling, long-suffering husband! ❀️

We will be seeing an early screening of Osgood Perkin's Keeper tonight. The way to my heart is low-budget, moody horror film, and he knows me ❀️

It is always the people not doing anything that has the loudest opinions on what you are doing wrong.

agreeing to make a terrible deal while your main opponent is quite literally being boo'd on live tv by an entire stadium of people is the kind of political instinct you'd normally only find in a 3 week old dead goldfish

Dismissing and minimizing the process, in any art, is partially what has led to widespread acceptance of AI generated art and writing.

When your focus is on the result, you are not partaking in art. You are a bystander.

So far, the Republicans have no appetite, as a whole body, to actually do this. The consequences if Dems ever take a majority is a real threat.

How the heck does a child understand the step to apologize, and most adults don't?

1. Acknowledge the person you hurt, fully.
2. Say you are sorry, and be sincere.
3. Correct your behavior to avoid harming others in the future.

It was as if she walked into my confession box to confess she ran over my dog.
The intensity!

"Thou are released from your mortal debt, OH, child of God! 5 hail Mary's for every time you struck your sippy cup upon the kitchen floor. Peace be with you."

Okay, I've had toddlers rage when corrected. I've had toddlers cry. I've had them laugh at me. I've had them nod and wander off.

Never have I had a child express honest contrition.

Today in unbelievable cuteness:

I sternly told a toddler to stop trying to open their sippy cup.
She walked over, gently grabbed my hand, looked me soulfully in the eyes, and whispered, "I am SO sorry."
Then she started drinking nicely.

TFW you lost your cake carrier 7 years ago, and just today, saw a video of a cake your sister made, and there it is!
You can even see the scratch from that time your husband dropped a chef's knife on it.

Compliments from girls always hits better.
When a woman compliments another woman, she knows exactly what she's looking at and how much work went into it.

Not, "hey, you're beautiful! DM me back! Why are you ignoring me? ...wyd? Where are you beautiful? Fine! you're fat anyways!!"

😭😭

I really wish more people understood that food assistance programs, both at home and as overseas food aid, are agricultural subsidy as much as (more than?) they are charity.

This is an excellent thread, with several good points you can share with your friends/relatives/acquaintances who are in the "let them starve" camp. Since empathy won't work for some people, maybe selfishness & self-interest will.

I've decided that loving baseball is a form of self-harm for me.

Why do I do this to myself?

Why am I a 3rd generation Red Sox fan?
Why do I carry the generational trauma of that damn team?

SNAP benefits everyone!

02.11.2025 18:27 β€” πŸ‘ 12    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

So... can we AT LEAST be selfish if we can't be empathetic.

Don't shΖ‘ot yourself in the face because the idea of a poor person buying cookies upsets you.
(BTW, our farmers love that SNAP recipients buy cookies from companies that buy their farmed products.)

I would rather pay the whomping $36 a year in taxes so people can buy food; even junk food; than paying $1000s extra at the grocer a year and no one benefit, especially not me.

02.11.2025 18:27 β€” πŸ‘ 24    πŸ” 5    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

RAISE PRICES!! They just lost 12% of their revenue.

So if this gets drawn out much longer, the average America is about to pay 12% or more extra at the check-out.

So, if you don't want your dollars being wasted to feed ingrates, you are about to be spending MORE to not feed them.

02.11.2025 18:27 β€” πŸ‘ 20    πŸ” 7    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Basically, with SNAP, a HUGE amount of food gets processed into the supply chain instead of rotting.

This also means the grocer makes money. And they've been used to making this money.

About 12% of all grocery sales are through SNAP. Without SNAP, what do you think the shops are going to do?
