Captain America, while not that dynamic in terms of composition I really wanted to show off the Captain America I’d like to see. An Old Hollywood look in New York mechanic ware while his suit serves both as an attention grabbing color pallete and symbolic of a lost American idealist. I imagine this Cap as an internal investigation specialist for Shield with his identity being unknown inspired by his original story where the story of Steve Rogers the second generation Irish immigrant as the legendary Captain America. I imagine that this cap is more legend than history that most soldiers thought was to pump the soldiers spirits or scare Nazi prisoners. I also had this idea of an Adam west style 60s TV show only increasing the vagueness of whether cap was real. Anyways in the modern day this cap does internal work to discover hydra in government and underground social works like the serpent society or H.I.V.E. Lastly I was heavily inspired by actors like Paul Newman, Humphrey Bogart, James Dean, and the former president John F Kennedy.

Coleman Domingo as Batman was a casting I didn’t know I would love until I listened to the audio series. It brings me back to Kevin Conroy’s interpretation of the hero.

Coleman is already built like a superhero so modeling the character was easy. The harder issue was dressing him in a way that matches the character in the series. I knew I wanted drama so I accented his shoulders with the points and long ears from Tim Sales’ interpretation. The racing gloves and thigh highs from Sean Gordon Murphy. All the while keeping the beard Coleman has but with a touch of salt and pepper.

André Holland as Two Face was such an interesting pick for portrayal. He’s such a tender and caring version of Harvey that just feels like he’s caught in the middle of a war. I wanted to portray his Two face the same way. So that you can’t ignore who he once was. Even with his scarring there is a tender sadness. The Talon I wanted to feel like a slasher with an uncaring face. A touch of that .01% gold plated old money adornments to give this mystery.

I honestly just wanted to show off the cast because both of the Gordon’s play an interesting role where Jim is a fable fallen from grace and Barbara is rising to the occasion to fill in the role. Ally provides an interesting Bond girl-esque approach to the equation that foils Batman’s isolation.

So it’s probably obvious I referenced Daredevil’s Shadowland appearance fairly heavily but I did want to see more yellow in his suit just to reference Battlin’ Jack Murdock without the eye sore. I also like the idea of Daredevil’s eyes being fully unseen to give more of an intimidating cowl. The Punisher was a challenge to make a design I was happy with. I knew I wanted to reference him being a veteran in Vietnam but I also wanted him to look like a one man army. In the process I found that one part of the design would be sacrificed if I went too realistic. I landed on his intimidation coming from his height. In my mind he is truly built like Dolph Lundgren and lightly referenced the face and build from Rocky 3.

I’ve never been huge on all ghost rider media. However Danny Ketch always caught my attention with his Akira-esque bike and spiked jacket. Then when Robbie Reyes came around I loved the use of the Hell charger as his car but I wanted to draw something a little different. Through drawing the two I learned more about Johnny blaze and his mystical Shotgun, I really wanted to double down on the stuntman aesthetic. By the time I got done I realized that I really liked the idea that Johnny and Danny are like older brother figures for Robbie which after reading a bit about him, I thought would be a nice change of pace.

I always thought if Marvel is gonna do professor Hulk then they should do it more interestingly. Both Banner and Hulk are present but influencing each other especially on who’s domineering the moment. Banner makes Hulk arrogant, Hulk makes Banner more empathetic.
