Belshazzar’s Feast; Enigma Variations / BPO 2024-25 / Classical / What's On - Brighton Dome A huge orchestra, two brass bands, a double chorus, a commanding baritone… and the Fall of Babylon. Brighton Festival Chorus radiate in Walton’s wicked, raucous and outrageously opulent score.

Our first rehearsal of '25 is nearly here and we'll be giving out all to the wild ride that is Belshazzar's Feast. Its sure to be raucous. We're singing in February with @brightonphilharmonic & American baritone @quattlejizz one of the brightest talents around. What a way to start 2025!

An audience member capturing a Christmas concert with the Orchestra and a choir at the Royal Albert Hall on their phone with the text 83% of adults in the UK will engage with classical music this month'

New research from the RPO suggests that adults in the UK engage with classical and orchestral music this month more than any other time of the year.

Additionally, 51% of adults with no prior relationship to classical music say they will give it a try over the Christmas period.

Money should not be the only KEF metric England’s Knowledge Exchange Framework unfairly marks down an arts cluster whose impact is not directly reflected in cash, says Michelle Phillips

Music in higher education creates valuable impact on the world; social, cultural & economic value, & value in terms of health & wellbeing & community. We're rehearsing this wicked, raucous, outrageously opulent score charting the Fall of Babylon. A curse, lavish orgies, a slaying and a hymn of brazen triumph. What a piece to rehearse for the concert on 9th Feb with the wonderful BPO. Until then, there's a lot of hard work ahead :)
