In the Land of the Lacandón: A Graphic History of Adventure and Imperialism tells the story of French explorer's search for the “lost” Maya, deep in the Mexican jungle.

With 50 pages of graphic illustration, as well as photos, drawings, and a map, it's an impressive work.

My pet theory: part of the young-men-to-far-right pipeline today stems from the decline of punk rock as a subculture.

In earlier generations, a lot of angry, disaffected dudes got socialized into punk’s anti-corporate, lefty ethos.

Now, It’s YouTube and gaming spaces that often skew right.
