Christian VΓ‘zquez pinch hits for Puerto Rico and rips a single into center. Nice hand from the crowd for the former Red Sox catcher.

Caleb Durbin fouled off five pitches and worked a 10-pitch walk leading off the bottom of the fourth with the Red Sox down, 4-0.

Sox fans will like this guy.

Kristian Campbell grounded to the right side and jogged out of the box. The ball got boxed around but he was still out. Not a good look there.

Slick play by Marcelo Mayer ranging behind second and flipping the ball to Trevor Story at second then another nice play with a running scoop to get an out at first.

Coaches talk a lot about a player's "clock," the ability to know how much time they need to make a play. That was an example.

Alex Cora joked "We’ll win regardless" this afternoon because he's managing the Sox and wants to see Puerto Rico do well.

3-0 Puerto Rico after a shaky start by lefty Greg Bennet, who was pulled after 22 pitches in the first inning and is back for the second thanks for ST rules.

Smaller crowd than usual at JetBlue Park for the exhibition but much nosier than usual. The Puerto Rico fans have drums, vuvuzelas and other noisemakers.

Just had a good conversation with Puerto Rico GM Carlos Beltran. Nobody is happier than a new Hall of Famer.

In case you missed it, Northeastern beat No. 2 LSU 13-10 on Monday in Baton Rouge.

Duxbury's Chris Walsh drove in four runs. North Andover's Ryan Griffin went 5.1 IP and allowed 1 ER against the defending NCAA champs.

Excellent program at NU, as always.

If they non-tendered him he would have been signed right away by a team happy to pay $4.1 million for a No. 2 or 3 starter in 2027. Why would the Sox give that away for nothing?

Show me where you criticized the Sale trade. You can’t. Nobody did at the time. But now everybody knew. It’s BS. And Schwarber just didn’t work with Martinez signed. Nobody’s fault. It just didn’t fit. Two DHs can’t work.
