What a selfish mother. I had measles as a4 year old (1961 no vaccine at the time) and I have had tinnitus ever since. As I have got older my hearing has worsened. I got off lightly- measles can carry much worse problems in her childrenβs future

Frankly embarrassing for a British newspaper to report this without noting that the University of the Third Age has functioned in the UK for decades. It has 400,000 members.

Very interesting discussion- I started my MA Historical Research in 2009 (age 52) spread it over three years and followed by my PhD achieved in2020. However my university (Roehampton) doesnβt offer such possibilities anymore, such a shame. Thereβs always U3A of course.

I find the maps fascinating and have used them to add βcolourβ to some of my case studies. And to trace where my great grandmother was born. Great source of social history.
