My photo shows a painted terracotta female figurine. She has a small head with a beak-like nose, bare breasts, a slim waist, wide hips, and both arms are raised above her head with hands curving inwards. Her upper body is painted red and her hair black. Her legs are joined together in a v-shape (with no feet), and painted white to represent a skirt.
The figurine was excavated in 1907 from a tomb at the site of el Ma'mariya in southern Egypt by Henri de Morgan, who was working on behalf of the Brooklyn Museum.
A 5,500 year-old terracotta female figurine, so well preserved she looks like she was made yesterday!
Known as โBird Ladyโ for her beak-like nose.

It ceased to be used during the medieval period and was later used for housing, quarters for a religious order, a quarry, a fortress and a Christian shrine.

It was built using travertine limestone, Volcanic rock (tuff) and brick-faced concrete. It had a capacity of between 50/80 thousand people.
It was used for gladiatorial combat, executions, animal hunts and reenactments of famous battles amongst other things.

The Colosseum.
Construction began in AD 72 under the Emperor Vespasian as part of an imperial effort to revitalise Rome after the tumultuous year of the four Emperors (AD 69) and was completed in AD 80 under his successor and heir Emperor Titus.

Photo of a terracotta figurine depicting a small child lying on the back of a pig. The figurine appears worn, with faded details, and is placed in a museum setting alongside other artifacts.
A Greek rattle in the shape of a boy riding on a #pig. Taranto, 3rd c. BC.
Rattles such as this were used as toys, but the sound produced by the small pieces of clay or stones inside the animals was also intended to ward off any evil. Rattles have been found in children's graves, but...๐งต1/2
